90 Day Fiance<\/em> Season 10 trailer<\/a> introduced fans to the cast \u2014 including Nikki and Justin.<\/p>\nJustin is a Moldovan man. He and Nikki met, fell in love, but then broke up many years ago.<\/p>\n
They only recently reconnected. Nikki is transgender, and Justin rejected her many years ago. He has learned and grown a lot since then.<\/p>\n
In this sneak peek video ahead of the Season 10 premiere, Nikki shares their backstory. After 15 years apart, they\u2019re giving romance another shot.<\/p>\n
We knew that Justin had ultimately rejected Nikki all of those years ago after she came out to him as transgender. In the sneak peek video below, we hear the full (bonkers) context for that.<\/p>\n\u201cYeah, well, I have a secret to tell you,\u201d is seldom a good line in an argument. But it was how Nikki came out to her once and future (well, present) fiance. (TLC)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n47-year-old Nikki tells her friend and the camera about when she underwent bottom surgery when she was 20.<\/p>\n
Not all trans folks undergo surgery, or the same surgery. Just like how not all cisgender women get breast implants, for example.<\/p>\n
Still, as a young trans woman, Nikki was \u201cstealth,\u201d meaning that no one in her life knew that she was trans. She was, she explains to the camera, going through some things.<\/p>\nObviously, many trans women would never use language like \u201cused to be a man.\u201d But others would. And those were the words that Nikki chose to describe herself and her journey nearly two decades ago. (TLC)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\nIt turns out that, during an argument, Nikki simply blurted out: \u201cI used to be a man.\u201d <\/p>\n
Not how many trans folks would come out, but that was what Nikki told Justin during a debate over (apparently) him not helping out around the house.<\/p>\n
\u201cI traumatized him,\u201d she characterizes to a friend. <\/p>\nSpeaking to the confessional camera in this 90 Day Fiance Season 10 sneak peek, Nikki opens up about her experiences as a Gen X trans woman. (TLC)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\u201cAnd he went home and he was depressed for a really long time,\u201d Nikki describes.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd,\u201d she expresses, \u201cI felt bad about that.\u201d<\/p>\n
Coming out during a fight is rarely the right way to do it. But \u2026 it sounds like most of his reaction is on him.<\/p>\nIn a 90 Day Fiance Season 10 sneak peek, Nikki shares photos from when she was young and first underwent a medical transition. (TLC)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n15 years ago, Nikki explains, she and Justin parted ways. They did keep in touch, apparently.<\/p>\n
Now, however, they recently realized that they were both single and have a lot more experience and wisdom under their belts.<\/p>\n
So they decided, hey, what if they weren\u2019t both single? What if they gave this another shot?<\/p>\nNikki recalls the euphoria of undergoing bottom surgery as a young woman. (TLC)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\u201cJustin and I kept in touch throughout the years,\u201d Nikki tells the camera. <\/p>\n
\u201cHe had to go through things on his own,\u201d she says. \u201cAnd I had to go through things on my own.\u201d<\/p>\n
Nikki is clearly a very gracious and forgiving person.<\/p>\nRecalling her young adulthood, Nikki describes how she was \u201cstealth\u201d \u2014 in that she was not out about being transgender, and had isolated herself from potential LGBTQ+ friends while she worked out some of her issues. (TLC)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\nThey made plans to meet up and see if they could rekindle their old spark.<\/p>\n
So Nikki planned a trip to Mexico. She went there from the US, and Justin went there from Moldova.<\/p>\n
There, he told her that she was the love of his life. Following that confession, he proposed. And so they began the K-1 visa process. Second time\u2019s the charm?<\/p>\n\n\n
