Before we get to the team finals, let’s see who qualified for the Olympics due to their performance in prelims at the world championships this week.<\/p>\n

In the team competition, the top scoring countries at last year’s world championships qualified to bring full teams to the 2024 Olympics. The men’s teams for China, Japan, and Great Britain and the women’s teams for the United States, Great Britain, and Canada all qualified this way by finishing in the top three at the 2022 world championships. The nine highest scoring teams from prelims at the 2023 world championships also qualified to bring full teams to Paris. The countries who will be bringing full teams to the Olympics next year:<\/p>\n

More record breaking news
The American women have now won a record breaking seven consecutive team world championships! <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This is the 33rd medal Simone Biles has won in Olympic and world championship competition, making her the most decorated female gymnast in history. She now shares the record for most Olympic and world medals with Vitaly Scherbo, who competed for the Soviet Union, the Unified Team and Belarus. <\/p>\n

Today’s team win is Simone’s 20th gold medal at the world championships and her 26th world championship medal overall. She won her first world championship medal ten years ago (coincidentally, worlds were held in Antwerp that year too). <\/p>\n

The Brazilian women came in second place, their first team medal at the world championships. France finished third, earning their first team medal since they won silver at the 1950 world championships. <\/p>\n


The men’s third place finish is their first world championship team medal in nine years! Love seeing this kind of excitement. <\/p>\n

Men’s all around finals are on Thursday and women’s all around finals are on Friday. I’ll post again on Friday so we can discuss both! <\/i><\/p>\n
