ElectraMeccanica<\/a>, former maker of three-wheeled electric vehicles, said on Wednesday that it has \u201cterminated\u201d its plan to merge<\/a> with Tevva<\/a>, which makes hydrogen-electric trucks (not<\/em> sandals).\u00a0<\/p>\n ElectraMeccanica said<\/a> its board decided unanimously to bin the deal over \u201cmultiple incurable breaches of the agreement by Tevva.\u201d The alleged breaches include \u201cfailures by Tevva\u201d to share \u201cmaterial information\u201d with ElectraMeccanica, the latter firm said.<\/p>\n What material information? A spokesperson for ElectraMeccanica declined to elaborate in an email to TechCrunch.<\/p>\n Tevva\u2019s spokesperson told TechCrunch that it\u2019s \u201cdeeply disappointed by ElectraMeccanica\u2019s abrupt decision.\u201d They also declined to elaborate further.<\/p>\n Cryptically, ElectraMeccanica\u2019s press release said the board\u2019s decision was \u201cbased on additional information that came to light.\u201d It added that ElectraMeccanica would \u201cexplore all legal recourse available to it\u201d to recover cash it had lent out.<\/span><\/p>\n In August, ElectraMeccanica said<\/a> it would lend $6 million in working capital to the U.K. truck maker. Their merger was announced that month, following a rocky year for ElectraMeccanica. During that time, the automaker recalled all of its teeny-tiny vehicles<\/a>, and then pivoted away from the three-wheeler market entirely<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n After the companies announced the merger, ElectraMeccanica CEO Susan Docherty said the firms operations would compliment one another. The executive cited Tevva\u2019s \u201cexperience in the U.K. and EU\u201d and its \u201ccommercially ready products and significant customer list\u201d as upsides to the merger.<\/p>\n ElectraMeccanica\u2019s statement today added that it \u201cintends to continue exploring other strategic third-party opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
