Josh Duhamel<\/strong><\/a> is \u201cgrateful\u201d for his Hollywood success, but he confessed that his time in the spotlight while married to Fergie<\/strong><\/a> was \u201ca lot\u201d to handle.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think I ever really got comfortable with all of it,\u201d Duhamel, 50, said of the fame that came from being with Fergie, 48, during a Wednesday, October 4, clip from his In Depth With Graham Bensinger<\/em><\/a> interview. \u201cI just missed the simplicity of who I really am, you know?\u201d<\/p>\n

Duhamel \u2014 who split from Fergie in September 2017<\/a> after eight years of marriage<\/a> \u2014 explained: \u201cI\u2019m just not a guy who is comfortable going to red carpets. Doing all the Hollywood stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n

Looking back, Duhamel noted that he and Fergie didn\u2019t see eye to eye on their forever home. Duhamel was from North Dakota, while the former Black Eyed Peas singer<\/a> was born and raised in Southern California.<\/p>\n

\u201cI made peace with that part of my life. She and I have a great relationship<\/a>,\u201d he explained. \u201cThere wasn\u2019t anything wrong with it. We had a great time. I think we kind of outgrew each other and had very different interests.\u201d<\/p>\n

Duhamel remembered wanting to come back to North Dakota as he got older, pointing out that \u201cthis is not\u201d the right life for Fergie. \u201cI\u2019ve got no hard feelings for it. I truly don\u2019t,\u201d he continued. \u201cI\u2019m very lucky that she\u2019s a kind human.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Shotgun Wedding<\/em> actor<\/a> \u2014 who shares 10-year-old son Axl with Fergie<\/a> \u2014 noted that despite his aversion to the limelight, he eventually acclimated to Hollywood. However, that didn\u2019t change his desire to move back to his home state one day.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tJosh Duhamel and Fergie called it quits in 2017 and have been amicably raising their son, Axl, ever since. Duhamel and Fergie welcomed their son in August 2013, six months after announcing their pregnancy. \u201cJosh & Me & BABY makes three!\u201d the singer tweeted in February 2013. Four years later, the duo announced their separation [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIt just took me a long time to really feel like I belong, like I fit in,\u201d Duhamel said of Los Angeles, sharing that his move to North Dakota has been good for his soul. \u201cHaving this place out here, really allows me to get back to that kid that fell in love with nature. Fell in love with the outdoors and being creative and just being active.\u201d<\/p>\n

Duhamel, who is expecting his first baby<\/a> with wife Audra Mari<\/strong><\/a>, admitted that \u201cHollywood and L.A. and that whole lifestyle can suck the soul out of you if you\u2019re not careful.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following his divorce, Duhamel found not only a second love with Mari, 29, but he found balance within his career by moving to the Midwest.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAfter a high-profile marriage and subsequent divorce\u00a0from Fergie, Josh Duhamel\u00a0sparked a\u00a0low-key\u00a0romance with now-wife\u00a0Audra Mari. \u201cEveryone told me that after you get married you feel different,\u201d Mari exclusively gushed to Us Weekly in September 2022, shortly after exchanging vows with\u00a0the Safe Haven star. \u201cTo be honest, I never really believed them and I thought it would [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cHaving this place out here almost helps my career because I can get back to being who I really am,\u201d he said of his lake house. \u201cIf I\u2019m there and I get caught up in that world, you start to lose track of who you are. And I don\u2019t think I\u2019ve ever done that, thankfully.\u201d<\/p>\n

Duhamel added: \u201cThat\u2019s why Audra\u2019s so great for me. We\u2019re both hardcore North Dakotans. We both love lake life.\u201d<\/p>\n
