\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Katy Perry<\/strong><\/a> will be going to court.<\/p>\n The 38-year-old \u201cHarleys in Hawaii\u201d singer was asked to testify in a non-jury trial regarding the Montecito mansion she purchased with Orlando Bloom<\/strong><\/a> in 2020 for $15 million, via People<\/a>.<\/p>\n According to court documents, the eight-bedroom and 11-bath Santa Barbara area estate was owned by 84-year-old business entrepreneur Carl Westcott<\/strong>, father-in-law of Real Housewives of Dallas<\/em> star Kameron Westcott<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n Katy<\/strong>, Orlando <\/strong>and Carl<\/strong> are in the middle of a legal battle over the home, as he claims that he had not been in the right state of mind to sign any binding contracts and wanted to avoid the sale.<\/p>\n Carl<\/strong> was diagnosed with a genetic brain disorder called Huntington\u2019s Disease in 2015 and is now living in a facility for patients battling dementia.<\/p>\n The couple\u2019s business manager Bernie Gudvi<\/strong>\u2018s attorney, Eric Rowan<\/strong>, previously argued his diagnosis had not impacted his mental capacity. <\/p>\n Carl<\/strong>\u2018s attorney, Andrew Thomas<\/strong>, argued that having spinal surgery on his back five days before the sale made him have \u201cdelusion\u201d and \u201cintrusive thoughts\u201d after needing to take painkillers hydrocodone, gabapentin, and tramadol.<\/p>\n According to court papers obtained by People<\/em>, Carl<\/strong>\u2018s attorney also claimed trial subpoenas were sent via email to Katy<\/strong> in July and August.<\/p>\n Katy<\/strong>\u2018s business manager\u2019s lawyer suggested during the latest court session to use her deposition as testimony, adding that \u201cshe is in Alabama taping the TV series she is on\u201d until October 19. <\/p>\n After being turned down by the judge, he asked for a closed court for her testimony.<\/p>\n \u201cI am inclined to have her do it remote, but I am not inclined to have a closed court. She is a person like anyone else. She is asking for a lot of money,\u201d the judge reportedly stated.<\/p>\n Katy<\/strong> is seeking more than $5 million in damages due to loss of potential rental income and for the cost of maintaining other properties she and Orlando<\/strong> rent.<\/p>\n At the same time, it was just revealed that she\u2019ll be appearing in a beloved TV show.<\/a><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n
