Initially, it seemed like The Pok\u00e9mon Company\u2019s plan was for people to be able to easily find multiple pieces of merchandise from the special Pok\u00e9mon x Van Gogh Museum collection online at the Pok\u00e9mon Center, even if you couldn\u2019t make it to the actual exhibit in Amsterdam. This afternoon, though, The Pok\u00e9mon Company announced that its online store is already completely sold out \u2014 seemingly for good \u2014 despite the collaboration having only just begun a day before.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\u201cWe understand this is disappointing to many who were looking to our official email and social media channels for guidance on how and when to purchase,\u201d the company said. \u201cWe are actively working on ways to provide more \u2018Pikachu with Grey Felt Hat\u2019 promo cards for fans shopping at Pok\u00e9mon Center in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Though we reached out asking whether there might potentially be a restock down the line, The Pok\u00e9mon Company did not get back by the time of publishing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
It never exactly made clear when the Pok\u00e9mon x Van Gogh swag \u2014 an assortment of painting prints, tote bags, card sleeves, and a holographic promo card \u2014 would become available this week. On Friday morning, pieces from the collection began popping up with no warning, leading to rushes on the website that led to numerous hiccups that made it hard to add things to a cart and almost impossible to get through checkout.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
A reprint of the \u201cPikachu with Grey Felt Hat\u201d promo card appears to be on the way from the sounds of The Pok\u00e9mon Company\u2019s statement, which is something, and the museum\u2019s exhibit is obviously still available to the public. But for those who were hoping to get their hands on a piece from the rest of the collection, it\u2019s looking like the hunt just got a lot more expensive.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
