The two quickly struck a love for the ages, and while Gerry was a student at the University of Iowa, he and Tori made plans to tie the knot.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifeandstylemag.com\/posts\/gerry-turners-job-what-golden-bachelor-star-did-for-a-living\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gerry was a food business professional<\/a> and worked towards a dream retirement with his wife, who worked as a volunteer coordinator for a hospital. Saving up their money so they could afford the lake home that Gerry lives in now, the duo had plans to retire in Indiana and watch their two daughters, Jenny and Angie, raise their own children.<\/p>\n<h2>How Did Gerry Turner\u2019s Wife Die?<\/h2>\n<p>Tragically, Tori and Gerry didn\u2019t get to live through their golden retirement years together. In 2017, just shortly after they moved into their dream home, Tori suffered a bacterial infection and died just eight days later. Speaking to\u00a0<em>The New York Times\u00a0<\/em>about his late wife and how their story would be told on the show, Gerry lamented, \u201cI wanted to make sure that the story of my wife\u2019s passing was told in a kind and sensitive way, and never sensationalized.
