Kevin Costner<\/strong><\/a> and ex-wife Christine Baumgartner<\/strong><\/a> are taking the high road after settling their tumultuous divorce.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThey are now on speaking terms. Things are better,\u201d a source exclusively tells Us Weekly<\/em>, noting that the exes \u201cdidn\u2019t want it to get ugly for the kids\u2019 sake.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

While the pair \u2014 who share sons Cayden, 16, and Hayes, 14, and daughter Grace, 12 \u2014 may be keeping it civil, that doesn\u2019t mean they plan on rekindling their romance. \u201cThere won\u2019t be a reconciliation. They\u2019re moving on,\u201d the insider says.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Costner, 68, is just \u201cthrilled that the negotiations are over,\u201d the source continues. \u201cAt the end of the day, Christine is the mother to his children and he didn\u2019t want to fight anymore.\u201d (Costner also shares daughters Annie, 39, and Lily, 36, and son Joe, 35, with ex-wife Cindy Silva<\/strong> and son Liam, 27, with ex Bridget Rooney<\/strong><\/a>.)<\/p>\n

The actor was previously married to Cindy Silva from 1978 to 1994. Over the course of his first marriage, Costner and Silva welcomed daughter Lily (born in August 1986), [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Baumgartner, 49, and Costner finalized their divorce on Tuesday, September 19<\/a>, following a messy four-month legal battle. The twosome have been at odds over child support and the terms of their prenuptial agreement.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Baumgartner first requested $248,000 per month in child support from Costner but instead temporarily received $129,755 per month. A judge later ruled in favor of the actor over Baumgartner<\/a> and set the payments at $63,209.<\/p>\n

Despite the final child support amount<\/a> being significantly lower than Baumgartner\u2019s initial request, the source tells Us<\/em> that she \u201cand the kids will be taken care of\u201d by Costner \u201cin their accustomed standard of living for life,\u201d adding that the Yellowstone<\/em><\/a> actor \u201cdoesn\u2019t want them to want for anything.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to the insider, Costner will \u201calways love\u201d Baumgartner and it was \u201cimportant to him that she and the kids [were] taken care of\u201d even if they are at odds.<\/p>\n

The Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves star \u2014 who won the Oscar for Best Directing in 1991 for his film Dances With Wolves \u2014 has said that he doesn\u2019t find it difficult to [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Costner previously spoke out about the challenging nature<\/a> of the divorce following his and Baumgartner\u2019s September hearing. \u201cThis is a horrible place to be, but this is where we\u2019re at,\u201d he told Access Hollywood<\/em><\/a> at the time. \u201cIt feels so bad and we\u2019re talking about somebody I love on the other side, I just can\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n

While the divorce and child support case are settled, Costner and Baumgartner will return to court in November for a trial<\/a> over their prenuptial agreement.<\/p>\n

\u201cKevin knows Christine is far from done,\u201d a second insider exclusively told Us<\/em> earlier this month. \u201cHe\u2019s relieved that step one has [gone his way] \u2026 but Christine is sure as hell not giving up on the overall war.\u201d<\/p>\n

Baumgartner initially filed for separation in May after 19 years of marriage. Costner reacted to the divorce filing at the time, saying in a statement via his rep, \u201cIt is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action. We ask that his, Christine\u2019s, and their children\u2019s privacy be respected as they navigate this difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n
