He\u2019s coming clean! Stephen Colletti<\/strong><\/a> claimed that MTV wanted him to be a part of The Hills: New Beginnings<\/em><\/a> \u2014 and hoped to see him spark a romance with Audrina Patridge<\/strong><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cEvery year, the producers would hit me up, ask me if I wanted to do a show, ask me if I could find a way to do the show,\u201d Colletti, 36, said during the Tuesday, January 31, episode of his \u201cBack to the Beach\u201d podcast with Kristin Cavallari<\/strong><\/a>. \u201cWhen they started doing The Hills: New Beginning<\/em>s, they hit me up. And at the moment, we were working on finding [my show] Everyone\u2019s Doing Great<\/em><\/a> a home. We were trying to sell it. So I was like, \u2018I\u2019m going to take a meeting. If there was a world where if I show in a couple episodes of The Hills<\/em> and Viacom or one of their platforms buys the show, I\u2019ll f\u2014king do it.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n While the One Tree Hill<\/em> alum shared that the deal \u201cdidn\u2019t work out that way,<\/a>\u201d he confessed that the reality reboot had plans for him to cozy up to 37-year-old Patridge.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201c[They] we\u2019re like, \u2018Couldn\u2019t you see yourself having a little something with, like, Audrina? It seemed like you guys have good chemistry, and you know her, right? So it\u2019s not totally unrealistic to think that you\u2019d maybe go out<\/a> on a date.\u2019\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Colletti said that he wasn\u2019t sure being on the show would have been a success since \u201cthe only connection I had to [The Hills<\/em>] was [Kristin] or Lauren [Conrad]\u201d and the cast were \u201cnot people I hung out with.\u201d The 36-year-old Uncommon James founder, however, disagreed.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cYes you could [have been on The Hills<\/em>], Stephen. You would take over that show,\u201d she quipped.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cYou tell me whether or not you\u2019re going to buy my TV show, and I\u2019ll let you know whether or not I\u2019m going to come on The Hills<\/em>,\u201d Stephen joked about MTV\u2019s offer.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The California native ended up only making one official appearance during The Hills\u2019<\/em> initial run in 2007 \u2014 Colletti showed up to one of Lauren Conrad\u2019s<\/strong><\/a> parties \u2014 but he starred on its sister show, Laguna Beach<\/em><\/a>, from 2004 to 2005.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The Hit the Floor<\/em> actor became a fan-favorite on the series when viewers wondered whether he would keep dating the Very Cavallari<\/em> alum<\/a> or pursue a relationship with longtime pal Conrad, 37.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n While their teenage romance eventually fizzled out, Colletti and Cavallari remained close over the years, launching their \u201cBack to Beach\u201d rewatch podcast in July 2022.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The duo have since gotten candid about the intervention of producers and how the high school-based reality series wasn\u2019t as \u201creal\u201d as it claimed to be, even saying that their alleged \u201clove triangle\u201d<\/a> with Conrad was misconstrued.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI had a huge problem with this because look, obviously they created this show around this love triangle and there\u2019s moments where you and I were broken up,\u201d the Summer Forever<\/em> star explained. \u201cAnd they had learned about Lauren and I hooking up<\/a> and being very good friends and, you know, obviously stuff happened at certain times, but at no point ever whenever we were together would I step out on you in that way. That made my blood boil a little bit.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Cavallari, for her part, said that she felt MTV \u201cput us in a box\u201d for the \u201centire first season.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThey decided \u2018OK, this is how we\u2019re gonna make Stephen look and I don\u2019t care what\u2019s really going on in his life,’\u201d she said. \u201c\u2018We are gonna continue to hammer that home and keep going back to that same storyline.’\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
