Quantic Dream is famous for choose-your-own-adventure games like Heavy Rain<\/em> and Detroit: Become Human<\/em><\/a>, where protagonists can die along the way \u2014 and apparently, Disney and Lucasfilm have signed off on that idea for its upcoming Star Wars<\/em> game, Star Wars Eclipse<\/em><\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cThere\u2019s no game over. Anyone can die, anything can happen, and the story sort of continues,\u201d Quantic Dream marketing VP Lisa Pendse told IGN<\/em><\/a> at the 2023 Tokyo Game Show. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cOne of the big focuses we\u2019ve had when we announced Star Wars Eclipse was to make sure it was clear that this is actually an action adventure game that has all of the elements that you would come to expect and want from a Quantic Dream title, which is intricately branching narratives, multiple playable characters,\u201d she told the publication.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Let\u2019s be real: Quantic Dream\u2019s \u201canyone can die\u201d bad endings are really <\/em>bad. Gruesome, depressing, or \u2014 if you play the early Indigo Prophecy \/ Fahrenheit’s<\/em> mini-endings back to back to back \u2014 just kind of amusing. Well, I\u2019ve gotta admit it\u2019s been getting more flexible lately: Star Wars Jedi: Survivor<\/em><\/a> finally features lightsabers that can actually dismember stormtroopers after decades of game developers shipping blunt light bats. (There was the occasional cheat code<\/a>.) The Disney Plus series Andor<\/em> was a surprisingly mature and well-written show<\/a> by its close, and you may recall the movie Rogue One<\/em> doesn\u2019t exactly have a happy ending…<\/p>\n<\/div>\n But Pendse also told IGN<\/em> that the Quantic Dream game is still just \u201csimmering,\u201d with no real update to share since its 2021 announcement, and the Star Wars<\/em> franchise has a rich history of canceled video games<\/a>. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
