Prince Harry<\/a>\u2019s multi-million dollar content deal, but applications were lodged with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for the \u2018Archetypes\u2019 title after the deal was cancelled. <\/p>\nIt emerged on Friday (22.09.23) the bid has now been withdrawn following an unsuccessful 17-month battle to have the name officially protected. <\/p>\n
A joint statement from Meghan and Harry\u2019s Archewell foundation and Spotify said they had \u201cmutually agreed to part ways\u201d, but there have been reports they were dropped as they weren\u2019t producing enough content. <\/p>\n
Meghan and Harry had sought to claim rights to \u2018Archetypes\u2019 in areas such as \u201cdownloadable audio recordings and podcasts\u201d and in anything that fell into the category of \u201ccultural treatment of women and stereotypes facing women\u201d. <\/p>\n
\nWithin 10 months of the application bid, Meghan received her first set-back, with the USPTO rejecting the claim based on \u201cconfusion\u201d it could cause with \u201can existing trademark with the same name\u201d. <\/p>\n
\nThe name already existed with another US company called Project Miracle IP Holdings, lodged in May 2018. <\/p>\n
\nAn extension saw Meghan and Harry given until July to respond, one month after Spotify dropped the \u2018Archetypes\u2019 podcast. <\/p>\n
\nMeghan and Harry\u2019s lawyer Marjorie Witter Norman, from the LA-based firm Willkie, Farr and Gallagher, re-applied for an extra three months to tweak the application, which gave them up to September. <\/p>\n
\nIt was argued by Archewell that it \u201crespectfully disagrees that there is a likelihood of confusion\u201d and \u201crequests that the refusal be withdrawn\u201d. <\/p>\n
\nThe Daily Mail has now reported the couple decided to put an end to the battle last month when they withdrew by filing an \u201cexpress abandonment\u201d of the bid. <\/p>\n
\nThere were only 12 episodes of \u2018Archetypes\u2019 and drew an estimated 11 million listeners per week. <\/p>\n
\nBut by the 10th episode, the show had plunged to 22nd on Spotify\u2019s US rankings. <\/p>\n
\nMeghan is now being tipped to revive her Instagram account as part of a possible wellness business.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
