Miley Cyrus, whose dad Billy Ray Cyrus is a country superstar, is one of the most notable examples of a famous kid following her parents into showbiz. [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Rossdale \u2013 who first rose to fame in the 1990s alongside the Pumpkins, Deftones and Stefani\u2019s band, No Doubt \u2013 said he avoids pushing his music onto his kids and would instead have them find what they like organically. \u201cKids have to become independent. [Kingston] has to break away from me and discover things \u2014 almost distance himself from me, which is painful because\u201d \u2014 he says, with a bit of sarcasm amongst the sincere \u2014\u00a0 \u201cI\u2019m the most important person in his life, along with his mom.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rossdale did admit to Us<\/em> that the only time he feels disconnected from music, from the passion that has been the base of his life and career for three decades, is when he experiences the modern music that\u2019s \u201cnot meant for me. It\u2019s meant for young kids. My boys like that. It\u2019s when you get the [country] on the radio. Nowadays, it\u2019s much more homogenized, that country sound. So, I was worried, but [Zuma] loves Zac Brown<\/strong><\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n\u201cIt\u2019s really good, so I\u2019ve been listening to it,\u201d says Rossdale. Zuma\u2019s growing interest in the genre is likely due to spending time with his stepfather, Blake Shelton<\/strong><\/a>, whom Stefani married in 2021 (she and Rossdale divorced in 2016<\/a> after 14 years of marriage).<\/p>\nWhile Rossdale admits to not having a taste for modern country, he tells Us<\/em> that he wants to support Zuma\u2019s interests, especially because his son has \u201creally been connecting to [Zac Brown\u2019s] lyrics.\u201d<\/p>\n\n
