While the WGA<\/a> is picketing Dancing With the Stars<\/em><\/a> amid the ongoing strikes, SAG-AFTRA<\/a> has voiced their support for the cast and crew involved in season 32.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur members appearing on Dancing With the Stars<\/em> are working under the Network Code agreement, which is a non-struck contract,\u201d a spokesperson for the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) union told Variety<\/em><\/a> in a statement on Thursday, September 21. \u201cThey are required to go to work, are not in violation of SAG-AFTRA strike rules, and we support them in fulfilling their contractual obligations.\u201d<\/p>\n

This season of DWTS<\/em> has SAG-AFTRA members Alyson Hannigan<\/strong><\/a>, Jamie Lynn Spears<\/strong><\/a>, Barry Williams<\/strong>, Mira Sorvino<\/strong><\/a>, Ariana Madix<\/strong><\/a> and Xochitl Gomez<\/strong><\/a> competing for the coveted mirrorball<\/a>. However, the shows\u2019 hosts, Alfonso Ribeiro<\/strong><\/a> and Julianne Hough<\/strong><\/a>, judges, Carrie Ann Inaba<\/strong><\/a>, Bruno Tonioli<\/strong> <\/a>and Derek Hough<\/strong><\/a>, and all the professional dancers are also members of the union.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe program is a SAG-AFTRA non-dramatic production under a separate agreement that is not subject to the union\u2019s strike order,\u201d the statement continued. \u201cThe majority of our members on Dancing With the Stars<\/em> had contractual obligations to the show prior to the strike. Many are under option agreements that require them to return to the show if the producer exercises their option which the producer has done.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMauricio Umansky, Alyson Hannigan and more are gearing up to compete for the mirrorball trophy on season 32 of Dancing With the Stars. The full cast was announced during the Wednesday, September 13, episode of Good Morning America. The season\u2019s pros led a high-energy choreographed routine before the big reveal. The statement also shared that the union members are subject to a \u201cno strike clause\u201d and the organization itself is \u201cprohibited from advising\u201d members not to work.<\/p>\n

Not all of the contestants, however, are moving forward with the show. Matt Walsh<\/strong> was also set to compete on this season of the competition series, but announced on Thursday that he was \u201ctaking a pause\u201d from the show in solidarity with the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike. (The Veep<\/em> alum, 58, is a member of SAG-AFTRA and WGA.)<\/p>\n

\u201cI was excited to join the show and did so under the impression that it was not a WGA show and fell under a different agreement,\u201d he said in a statement to Variety<\/em><\/a>. \u201cThis morning when I was informed by my union, the WGA, that it is considered struck work I walked out of my rehearsal.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cI have been and will always stand with my union members of the WGA, SAG and DGA. Beyond our union artists, I am sensitive to the many people impacted by the strike and I hope for a speedy and fair resolution, and to one day work again with all the wonderful people I met at DWTS<\/em> who tolerated my dancing.\u201d<\/p>\n
