The Challenge<\/em><\/a>\u2019s Wes Bergmann<\/strong><\/a> plans to share his reality TV legacy with his future child.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that in some capacity, I\u2019m going to have to explain this part of my life to my child,\u201d Wes, 39, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> on Monday, September 18. \u201cIt would be naive of me to think that I could just ignore it. I\u2019m going to have to explain to him or her that their dad is different.\u201d (Wes\u2019 wife, Amanda Hornick<\/strong>, is currently pregnant<\/a> with the couple\u2019s first baby.)<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cI almost hesitate to say the word extraordinary, but f\u2014k it. Let\u2019s call a spade a spade. I\u2019m extraordinary \u2026 and different and an anomaly. \u2026 Their dad is different and they\u2019re going to stand out and they need to be aware of why. And that comes with pros and cons, and they need to be warned and taught what that means.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wes has cemented his reputation as a Challenge<\/em> legend<\/a> over the years with three wins under his belt: The Duel<\/em> in 2011, Rivals II<\/em> in 2013 and All Stars 3<\/em> in 2022. While appearing on season 2 of The Challenge: USA<\/em><\/a>, which premiered last month, Wes spoke candidly about the competition being his last stint on the show as he prepares for fatherhood. He was eliminated during the Thursday, September 21, episode after losing to Chris Underwood<\/strong><\/a> in the Arena.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIt\u2019s not uncommon for stars to quickly fall head over heels in love while filming a reality TV show \u2014 and The Challenge\u00a0competitors are no exception. While many fans didn\u2019t think Paulie Calafiore and Cara Maria Sorbello would create a real bond after meeting on Final Reckoning in 2018, but they proved the haters wrong. Although Wes admitted to Us<\/em> that there\u2019s always a chance he could change his mind about returning to the show, he doesn\u2019t see that happening. \u201cI ask myself, \u2018Why would I do that? Do I need to get a fourth Challenge<\/em> championship?\u2019 I\u2019ve done it all,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

Wes also said that when he revealed his retirement plans to his fellow Challenge: USA<\/em> competitors, his intentions got \u201cmassively misinterpreted\u201d and \u201cnone of them really even believed me.\u201d<\/p>\n

During an August episode of the CBS reality series, several cast members were unimpressed by Wes talking about his impending departure from the franchise as he tried to avoid going into the Arena. (Desi Williams<\/strong><\/a> called it \u201ca sob story\u201d executed \u201cin true Wes form.\u201d) However, Wes has a message for people who found his actions manipulative.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tWith so many personalities, there\u2019s bound to be drama \u2014 even behind the scenes. That\u2019s definitely the case for MTV\u2019s The Challenge. The reality show debuted in 1998 and was originally titled Road Rules: All Stars, then Real World\/Road Rules Challenge, before simplifying its name. Ever since, the cast has been one to watch \u2014 [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cAnytime people are like, \u2018Oh, he\u2019s trying to manipulate me,\u2019 you\u2019re literally just admitting that you\u2019re an idiot,\u201d he told Us<\/em>. \u201cAm I hypnotizing people? \u2026 It legitimately is never manipulation. That word gets used by my enemies about me, which is propaganda. I create mutually advantageous relationships with people in the house that then hurt people that are not part of those mutually advantageous relationships. It\u2019s called business.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although Wes displayed his conflicted emotions about leaving The Challenge<\/em> behind this season, he told Us<\/em> that he feels reasonably prepared for the life changes that come with parenthood<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am as ready as someone can be, but I\u2019m also very cognizant of the fact that no one is actually ready until it happens. I\u2019ve got a good, healthy mindset of partial excitement, partial ready for war,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

After emphasizing that he\u2019s \u201cnot underestimating an ounce\u201d of what lies ahead, Wes acknowledged that he\u2019s \u201cdone some really hard things<\/a>\u201d in his life prior to this.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Challenge<\/em> host] T.J. [Lavin]<\/strong><\/a> once told me to jump out of an airplane without a parachute. I can handle changing diapers,\u201d he said. \u201cAlso, my wife is very smart and patient and positive and happy, and we\u2019re going to do this together.\u201d<\/p>\n
