Police arrested Real Housewives of Orange County<\/em><\/strong> star Shannon Beador<\/a><\/strong> this weekend in Newport Beach, California, for drunk driving and a hit-and-run.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for the Newport Beach Police Department confirmed that officers arrested Beador early Sunday morning<\/a>. She was booked for two misdemeanors \u2012 an alcohol-related DUI and hit-and-run \u2012 and released.<\/p>\n

In a statement, Beador\u2019s attorney Michael L. Fell said Beador is \u201cextremely apologetic and remorseful\u201d following the event.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will be awaiting the official information on this case as it becomes available,\u201d Fell said. \u201cShannon is prepared to accept full responsibility for her actions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Beador, 59, joined the Real Housewives<\/em> franchise in 2014 and has appeared on the show ever since.<\/p>\n

A representative for Bravo declined to comment.<\/p>\n

The reality TV personality has her own brand of Real For Real holistic products and already-prepared meals, and she is currently slated to appear at the TV network\u2019s BravoCon fan convention along with other network stars in Las Vegas in November.<\/p>\n

Beador\u2019s longtime friend Jeff Lewis<\/a><\/strong>, an interior designer and radio personality, revealed Beador is recovering after allegedly getting injured in the hit-and-run.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was shocked because I\u2019ve never known Shannon to ever, ever, ever drink and drive. That is something that we have both discussed previously,\u201d Lewis said during SiriusXM\u2019s Jeff Lewis Live<\/em> Monday. \u201cI will tell you she is accepting full accountability. She is ashamed; she is embarrassed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lewis also said Beador will be entering counseling this week, seemingly to address her relationship with alcohol.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think Shannon is an alcoholic,\u201d Lewis said. \u201cAs her close friend, I think she\u2019s going through a lot of personal struggles right now, and I think that she probably has been leaning on alcohol.\u201d<\/p>\n

It seems this incident forced her to confront her issues, ones she had been evading for an extended period.<\/p>\n

The source elaborated further, explaining, \u201cShannon has spent the past several years running from her problems and she does not realize who she has turned into.<\/p>\n

Her cast mates and friends have told her that she needs help, which was before the DUI.\u201d<\/p>\n
