Fans of The Hunger Games<\/strong><\/a><\/em> have very strong opinions regarding a theory involving Jennifer Lawrence<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s Katniss Everdeen amid renewed interest in the franchise with the impending release of The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes<\/em><\/a>. <\/p>\n If you haven\u2019t seen the movies or read the books in a while, Katniss becomes the face of a rebellion in her home country and the mortal enemy of President Snow (Donald Sutherland<\/strong><\/a>) after volunteering for her sister Prim (Willow Shields<\/strong><\/a>) to compete in the annual Hunger Games. <\/p>\n She then makes it clear that she\u2019ll play by her own rules by refusing to kill Peeta (Josh Hutcherson<\/strong><\/a>), the other tribute from her home district. <\/p>\n Although it has commonly been believed that Prim was chosen by chance, leading to Katniss\u2019 decision to volunteer for the games, some now believe that it was orchestrated by President Snow. And other fans are seeing red about the theory. <\/p>\n Read more about the polarizing Hunger Games theory\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Two screenshots of TikToks made rounds on Twitter earlier this year, both of them perpetuating the theory. <\/p>\n One posits that President Snow \u201cknew who katniss was and feared her possibility of rebelling and causing chaos.\u201d In an attempt to \u201cbreak\u201d her spirit, he made it so that Prim was guaranteed to be chosen for the games, not expecting her older sister to volunteer. <\/p>\n Another user agreed that it was \u201cNOT an accident\u201d that Prim was chosen. <\/p>\n The Twitter user who shared the tweets<\/a> made it very clear that they were not in agreement, writing \u201cSHUT UP\u201d multiple times along the screenshots. <\/p>\n Others piled on in agreement. <\/p>\n \u201cnot only is this theory dumb, but it also takes away one of the best parts of the trilogy which was that katniss wasn\u2019t some \u2018chosen one,\u2019\u201d one user wrote<\/a>. <\/p>\n \u201cSnow did not know some f-cka-s poor girl from the poorest district in panem lol the point of katniss is that she was a deified, reluctant symbol of the revolution who only ever wanted to save her sister,\u201d another agreed<\/a>.<\/p>\n Another fan tweeted <\/a>that the theory \u201cgoes against not just her character but the entire theme of the story as well.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cand i don\u2019t want to call people dumb because that would be mean but both the books and the films are pretty f-cking explicit in how they detail exactly why katniss is not a \u2018chosen one\u2019 kinda character,\u201d they added<\/a>. <\/p>\n \u201ckatniss is literally just a random girl. like\u2026. idg how some people completely miss that,\u201d yet another fan wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n Another user proposed a different theory<\/a> that led to the same outcome: \u201cIf it is done by design i dont think prims name was there because of katniss but just cause they can see how many times someones name is in the draw and it sends a message if the people in the district see like this is a kid with 1 in there. like dont think youre safe.\u201d<\/p>\n What do you think about this theory?
