The Talk<\/em><\/a> and The Jennifer Hudson Show<\/em> will not be returning for new seasons just yet.<\/p>\n

After the daytime shows initially planned to resume filming this month, the decision was delayed amid the ongoing WGA and SAG strikes<\/a>. CBS confirmed the news in a statement on Monday, September 18, telling Entertainment Tonight<\/em><\/a>, \u201cThe Talk is pausing its season premiere scheduled for September 18. We will continue to evaluate plans for a new launch date.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Talk, which is hosted by Amanda Kloots<\/strong><\/a>, Akbar Gbajabiamila<\/strong>, Sheryl Underwood<\/strong><\/a>, Natalie Morales<\/strong><\/a> and Jerry O\u2019Connell<\/strong><\/a>, was set to return for season 14 on Monday. The show originally went on hiatus in solidarity with the writers strike in May, two months before actors joined the WGA on the picket line.<\/a><\/p>\n

Jennifer Hudson<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s show was also meant to debut on Monday. According to Variety<\/em><\/a>, however, The Jennifer Hudson Show<\/em> will hold off on returning to the air and no new date has been announced yet.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHollywood came to a standstill amid the joint WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike \u2014 but not every TV show has stopped filming. In July 2023, SAG-AFTRA authorized a strike after the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) did not address any of their concerns regarding fair wages, the use of artificial intelligence and more [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The shake-up comes after most TV and film productions have ceased filming as writers and actors throughout Hollywood fight for fair pay<\/a>. The Drew Barrymore Show<\/em> was the first talk show with plans to return although other productions including The View<\/em> and Live With Kelly and Mark<\/em> were able to keep airing<\/a> new episodes.<\/p>\n

Shows such as Live With Kelly and Mark<\/em> and Tamron Hall<\/em> were permitted to stay in production<\/a> because they either do not have writers or employ writers under a separate contract which was not affected by the WGA strike.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAfter the Writers Guild of America officially authorized a strike in May 2023, many TV shows were affected as a result. Writers and studios attempted to reach a new wage agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers in April 2023 before the WGA contract expired. Negotiations, however, broke down as the WGA [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Drew Barrymore<\/strong><\/a> announced earlier this month that she planned to film new episodes in an effort to keep her staff employed. \u201cI own this choice,\u201d she wrote in a statement posted via Instagram on September 10. \u201cWe are in compliance with not discussing or promoting film and television that is struck of any kind.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added: \u201cI want to be there to provide what writers do so well, which is a way to bring us together or help us make sense of the human experience,\u201d she wrote. \u201cI hope for a resolve for everyone as soon as possible. We have navigated difficult times since we first came on air. And so I take a step forward to start season 4 once again with an astute humility.\u201d<\/p>\n
