The 2023 MTV Video Music Awards<\/a> was the biggest birthday party country star Kelsea Ballerini<\/strong><\/a> could ever hope for, as she turned 30 years old on September 12 when the event was held at Newark, New Jersey\u2019s Prudential Center. The \u201cMiss Me More\u201d singer wowed on the red carpet in her first appearance at the VMAs in a stunning outfit to celebrate her new decade of life.<\/p>\n

The songstress opted for a stunning red halter gown featuring a keyhole cut out at the bust. She paired the look with chunky gold bangles and a simply hairdo, proving that sleek and simply is the most effective.<\/p>\n

Kelsea will make her debut as a performer at the VMAs despite breaking though as one of country\u2019s most promising artists with 2015\u2019s \u201cPeter Pan.\u201d She\u2019ll be giving fans a world premiere performance of one of the songs from part two of her EP Rolling Up the Welcome Mat,\u00a0<\/em>which included\u00a0\u201c<\/em>(For Good)\u201d\u00a0in the title and dropped on August 11.<\/p>\n

The VMAs shared an Instagram post on August 31 announcing\u00a0 Kelsea\u2019s appearance, which was met with a thrilled response from fans. \u201cBoots: On Welcome Mats: Rolled OUT @kelseaballerini is making her #VMA DEBUT!! Watch her perform LIVE on Tuesday, September 12 on @mtv!\u201d caption read.<\/p>\n

\u201cTime for our country-pop queen to have her MOMENT,\u201d country singer Hayden Joseph<\/strong> wrote in the comments, while one fan added, \u201cI AM SO EXCITED!!!!! THAT\u2019S MY GIRL!!!!\u201d One of Kelsea\u2019s fan accounts chimed in stating, \u201cY\u2019ALL BETTER SING HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO HER,\u201d as a fan told the singer, \u201cI\u2019m sure it will be special since you will be celebrating your special birthday as well! I won\u2019t mention the number,\u201d with a laughing emoji.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Kelsea initially released the six-song virtual EP Rolling Up The Welcome Mat <\/em>in February and went on to perform the song \u201cBlindsided\u201d during her Saturday Night Live<\/em> debut<\/a> on March 4. The EP featured songs about her divorce from fellow country singer Morgan Evans<\/strong><\/a> and was released amid her budding romance<\/a> with Outer Banks<\/em> star Chase Stokes<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The couple is still going strong, having just returned from a romantic late summer vacation in Italy<\/a>. Kelsea posted two carousels of photos<\/a> from their trip to her Instagram page on September 4 and 5, showing highlights from their trip, including a sizzling moment of the pair cuddling. The Tennessee native also spent time next to the pool, going on boat rides and getting plenty of rest and relaxation ahead of her MTV VMAs debut.<\/p>\n

One of the new songs on Kelsea\u2019s just-released EP is \u201cHow Do I Do This,\u201d which she told Us Weekly<\/em><\/a> is \u201cabout the first date after\u201d a breakup.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s about the nerves of going into a very unknown world,\u201d she told the publication. \u201cAnd, to me, I felt like since I hadn\u2019t really gotten to share my story in my perspective on what had happened in my life yet, that needed to come second. That is part two. I felt like I really wanted to talk about, you know, the breakup, and let that kind of live in one piece. And then if I ever decided to do what we\u2019re doing now \u2014 Rolling Up the Welcome Mat (For Good)<\/em>\u00a0\u2014 then that would be kind of the extension of the story.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd especially now, I\u2019ve been in a new relationship for a while now, and people have seen that,\u201d Kelsea continued, \u201cSo I feel like it\u2019s a really appropriate time to catch everyone up and to be able to move the narrative from the past to the present.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
