Right couple, wrong timing? Carrie Bradshaw and Aidan Shaw weren\u2019t endgame<\/a> in Sex and the City<\/em><\/a> \u2014 but things appear to be looking up for the fan-favorite couple.<\/p>\n Fans were originally introduced to the carpenter (John Corbett<\/strong><\/a>) in season 3 when he started dating Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker<\/strong><\/a>) following her split from Mr. Big (Chris Noth<\/strong><\/a>). The romance, however, took a turn when the writer cheated on her boyfriend with her ex.<\/a><\/p>\n While Carrie and Aidan attempted to give their love another try six months later<\/a>, their past issues prevent them from getting their happily ever after.<\/p>\n After a brief appearance in the second Sex and the City<\/em><\/a> movie, the country music singer later hinted that Aidan\u2019s story would continue in the revival.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m going to do the show,\u201d Corbett teased to Page Six<\/em> in April 2021, noting he was \u201cvery\u201d excited to take part in And Just Like That<\/em><\/a>. \u201cI think I might be in quite a few [episodes]. I like all those people, they\u2019ve been very nice to me.\u201d<\/p>\n Viewers were in for a surprise when the musician ultimately didn\u2019t reprise his role<\/a> in the first season. At the time, showrunner Michael Patrick King<\/strong><\/a> denied that there was a plan to incorporate Aidan in the initial episodes.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cNo, there\u2019s nothing old news about Sarah Jessica Parker and John Corbett as actors and beings and interests,\u201d King shared with Deadline<\/em> in February 2022. \u201cThe fact of the matter is, we never said anything about Aidan, just like we never said, Steve [Brady, played by David Eigenberg<\/strong><\/a>] and Carrie [Parker] are getting together.\u201d<\/p>\n He added: \u201cWe always try to be very restrained and look at the reality of what people are experiencing and it has nothing to do with Aidan coming or not coming. It really just felt like this was a lot for Carrie. This season was a lot. We wanted to get her through this and into the light\u2014the last episode is called, Seeing the Light. We wanted to get her out. [Aidan\u2019s return] is a big storyline that everybody at home wrote that we had never intended.\u201d<\/p>\n Parker also weighed in on Corbett\u2019s surprising comments about a potential return.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cHe actually reached out very kindly, because he\u2019s nothing if not a gentleman, and apologized for doing that as a joke,\u201d Parker said on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen<\/em> that same month. \u201cAnd then I was like, \u2018No, no, no, I mean, it\u2019s a free country, first of all, and second of all, I thought it was kind of delightful and fun.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n While filming season 2 nearly one year later<\/a>, the Hocus Pocus<\/em> star confirmed the To All the Boys<\/em> actor\u2019s involvement<\/a>. \u201cShh.
