The future of batteries<\/h2>\n

French battery maker Verkor secured<\/a> more than \u20ac2 billion (around $2.1 billion) to build its Dunkirk gigafactory, which is set to be operational by 2025<\/a>, with an initial production capacity of 16 GWh\/year.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a lot to be discussed about gigafactories, the future of batteries and the green transition. For instance, that demand isn\u2019t due to just EVs<\/a>. Or how recycling<\/a> might look. But what struck me the most about Verkor\u2019s announcement is where its funding is coming from.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
