In fact, after years of public scrutiny surrounding her body<\/a>, Selena is all about learning to feel comfortable in the skin she\u2019s in<\/a>. During a November 2019 interview with the \u201cGiving Back Generation\u201d podcast, the former Disney Channel star detailed her first experience with \u201cbody-shaming\u201d over her \u201cweight fluctuation.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI have lupus and deal with kidney issues and high blood pressure, so I deal with a lot of health issues and for me, that\u2019s when I really started noticing more of the body image stuff<\/a>. It\u2019s the combination of all of it. It\u2019s the medication I have to take for the rest of my life. It depends on even the month, to be honest. So, for me, I really noticed when people started attacking me for that,\u201d Selena detailed.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn reality, that\u2019s just my truth. I fluctuate. It depends [on] what\u2019s happening in my life. [It\u2019s totally out of my control], and that got to me big time. I think for me, that really messed me up for a bit,\u201d the\u00a0Spring Breakers<\/em>\u00a0actress added, before revealing how she deals with the negativity.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very happy with living my life. We were talking about it earlier, being in the present because that\u2019s it,\u201d Selena assured. \u201cSimilar to me posting a photo then walking away, for me that\u2019s it. I\u2019ll do a red carpet, I\u2019ll do whatever, I don\u2019t need to see it. I did it. I participated. I felt wonderful and that\u2019s where the extent of it is. I don\u2019t care to expose myself to everyone and hear what they have to say about it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Over the years, Selena has made it a point to step away from social media every now and again. However, as of publication, she boasts more than 400 million followers on Instagram alone, while her TikTok account boasts more than 56.9 million followers.<\/p>\n
