\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n The Drew Barrymore Show<\/em><\/strong> producer CBS Media Ventures has released a statement in response to the backlash that both the show and the host Drew Barrymore<\/strong><\/a> have been receiving this week.<\/p>\n Fans have not been pleased with Drew<\/strong>\u2018s decision to resume production on the daytime talk show amid the writers strike. The SAG-AFTRA strike is not a factor in the decision as the show is covered by the special \u201cNetwork Code,\u201d which allows Drew<\/strong> to serve as the host. But, the show must proceed without any writers until the WGA strike is over.<\/p>\n Drew<\/strong> just released a tearful apology video<\/a> in which she addresses the backlash and owns up to the decision. <\/p>\n Now, CBS is defending Drew<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cAs The Drew Barrymore Show<\/em> returns with original episodes on Monday we are very mindful and sensitive to the complex circumstances surrounding the show\u2019s return and we will be in full compliance with all our labor agreements and any strike rules. Our host works under a separate agreement with SAG-AFTRA (\u201cThe Network Code\u201d) that allows Drew<\/strong> and other daytime hosts to continue hosting the show,\u201d a rep for CBS Media Ventures told TheWrap<\/a>.<\/p>\n The rep says that \u201cno one on our staff will fill a writing position.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cIf you watch the show, it is obvious that Drew<\/strong> has always brought raw, unfiltered, spontaneous, open and honest conversations to her viewers and that will continue. The show also moves forward with important consideration to our staff and crew comprised of over 150 people, as well as our loyal viewers.
