Coming clean! Hilary Duff<\/strong><\/a> isn\u2019t just on good terms with ex Joel Madden<\/strong><\/a> \u2014 she and husband Matthew Koma<\/strong><\/a> are besties with the rocker and his wife, Nicole Richie<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI have a good relationship with their whole family,\u201d Duff, 35, said during a Thursday, January 26, appearance on Watch What Happens Live<\/em>. \u201cWe actually hang out all the time.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The How I Met Your Father<\/em><\/a> star revealed that she and Koma, also 35, are actually neighbors with Madden, 43, and the Simple Life<\/em> alum, 31. \u201cI was just in [Nicole Richie\u2019s] driveway, honking for her to come drink wine with us the other day,\u201d Duff said, noting that Richie couldn\u2019t make it because she was \u201casleep by 8.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cBut now we get them to hike together all the time,\u201d she added. \u201cAnd you know what? It\u2019s lovely.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Duff and Koma previously enjoyed a couple\u2019s date night with Madden and Richie, along with Pete Wentz<\/strong> <\/a>and partner Meagan Camper<\/strong><\/a>, in February of last year \u2014 something that the Lizzie McGuire<\/em> alum said \u201cblew the whole world\u2019s mind for a hot second<\/a>.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Despite her past romance with the \u201cBoys Like Girls\u201d crooner, the former Disney Channel star said her hubby has no qualms about the twosome remaining close and even played a few pranks<\/a> on the friendly exes when they first became neighbors.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cMy husband is a giant troll, it\u2019s one of my favorite things about him,\u201d Duff explained to host Andy Cohen<\/strong><\/a> on Thursday. \u201cRight when they moved in, for some reason Matt photoshopped a picture of Joel and [brother Benji Madden<\/strong><\/a>] in a photo with me on Valentine\u2019s Day with like, \u2018Happy Valentine\u2019s Day, honey.’\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Duff dated the \u201cLifestyles of the Rich and Famous\u201d artist when she was a teenager from 2004 until 2006. Shortly after their split, Madden shared<\/span>\u00a0that the pair remained on good terms\u00a0and continued to keep in touch.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cEvery girl I\u2019ve ever dated I have respect for, and I always try to leave them on good terms,\u201d he said during a March 2007 interview with People<\/em><\/a>. \u201cI don\u2019t see the necessity to be friends with anyone you\u2019ve dated but definitely out of respect of the time, you have to be kind of respectful and that\u2019s what I try to do.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n He also seemingly addressed the controversy over the duo\u2019s ten-year age gap<\/a>,\u00a0 telling the outlet that he \u201cignored\u201d what people had to say about his romance with Duff. \u201cPeople can say or think whatever they want \u2026 so in my reality, it\u2019s kind of irrelevant. I\u2019m always the kind of person that does the right thing and keeps my side of the street clean,\u201d Madden said.<\/span><\/p>\n The \u201cFly\u201d songstress, for her part, addressed the controversial relationship during a March 2016 episode of \u201cThe Love Bomb<\/a>\u201d podcast, calling it an \u201cintense\u201d experience<\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIt was so all-encompassing. It was so intense. It was my life,\u201d Duff told host Nico Tortorella<\/strong><\/a> in November 2016. \u201cIt was like every minute of my day. It was pretty major.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Madden and Richie, who began dating in 2006, have been married for 12 years and share daughter Harlow, 15, and son Sparrow, 13. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The Younger<\/em> alum, meanwhile, moved on with\u00a0Mike Comrie<\/strong><\/a>, whom she married in 2010. The couple welcomed son Luca\u00a0in 2012 but called it quits three years later<\/a>. In 2017, Duff began dating the Winnetka Bowling League frontman and they tied the knot<\/span> in December 2019.
