Maren Morris<\/strong><\/a> is ready to take fans across \u201cThe Bridge\u201d into the next chapter of her career.<\/p>\n

\u201cBRIDGE; a connecting, transitional, or Intermediate route or phrase between two adjacent conditions,\u201d wrote Morris, 33, in the new music announcement she posted to Instagram<\/a> on Tuesday, September 12. While this definition may suit Merriam-Webster, for Morris, \u201cThe Bridge\u201d \u2014 the name of the song she\u2019s dropping Friday, one of two new tracks \u2014 honors \u201cwhere I\u2019ve been and, but also, feels like a forward step into the sun.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAs I\u2019ve been working on my record nonstop this year,\u201d she continued, \u201cI realized these two songs deserved a moment on their own \u2014 a story in their own right, written a day apart from each other \u2014 a tender duo and bridge to my next album. I welcome, celebrate and grieve the changes that have happened these last few years, and these two songs say it better than I ever could in a caption or interview.\u201d<\/p>\n

Those fans patiently waiting for the follow-up to 2022\u2019s Humble Quest<\/em> will not have to wait much longer. Morris\u2019s next album \u201cis coming, but in the meantime, let\u2019s cross the bridge together,\u201d she wrote. \u201cHope you enjoy these. \u2018Wherever I\u2019m going, hope I\u2019m not the only one.’\u201d<\/p>\n

The image featured Morris wearing a black halterdress with a long, flowing slit skirt and black knee-high boots. Along with the title of the upcoming single \u2014 \u201cThe Bridge\u201d \u2014 the cover art featured the words \u201cThe Tree\u201d and \u201cGet The Hell Out Of Here.\u201d Before fans could theorize if those were the names of the second single and\/or the upcoming album, the comments section was disabled.<\/p>\n

Days before announcing \u201cThe Bridge,\u201d Morris had been active on Instagram, sharing photos from her performances in Calgary and Vancouver \u2014 and possibly shading her country music nemesis, Jason Aldean<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, September 7, she posted an image of herself seemingly wearing her outfit from the 2016 County Music Association Awards. At the ceremony, she took home New Artist of the Year \u2014 while Aldean, 46, vented about not receiving any nominations at the time.<\/p>\n

Morris also shared a clip of a model town<\/a> with a tiny billboard reading, \u201cWelcome to our Perfect Small Town From Sunrise to Sundown,\u201d seemingly a nod to Jason\u2019s controversial song, \u201cTry That in a Small Town.\u201d<\/p>\n
