Wonka <\/i>director Paul King says the movie is not really <\/em>a musical, but he’s full of praise for leading man Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet’s singing voice.<\/p>\n

“The Oompa Loompas sing a lot in the book, and Dahl always uses poetry. But I didn\u2019t want it to just become a musical where people are singing dialogue to each other for no discernible reason. I felt like it was more like a movie with songs than a musical,” King tells Total Film magazine<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n

“[Chalamet]\u2019s got a beautiful singing voice,” he continues. “The person it reminded me of was Bing Crosby<\/b>. There\u2019s quite a range, because it does go from a couple of bigger, showstopper-y sort of things, to moments of real, pure emotion and he can do it all\u2026 I\u2019m going to sound like a crazed fan<\/b>.”<\/p>\n

The cast includes Sally Hawkins, Hugh Grant, Olivia Colman, and Rowan Atkinson.<\/p>\n
