The 81-year-old Beatles icon\u2019s love of being a joystick warrior ahead of studio sessions has been revealed by Echo and the Bunnymen guitarist Will Sergeant.<\/p>\n
Paul\u2019s fellow Liverpudlian Will, 65, said in his new book \u2018Echoes: A Memoir Continued\u2019 about meeting Sir Paul at London\u2019s Air Studios: \u201cWhile we\u2019re hanging around in the games room, Paul McCartney pops in and says, \u2018So you are the Bunnymen from Liverpool, are ya? Nice to meet you.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe look on with broad smiles. \u2018My God, Paul knows our name and seems to know who we are.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
Will added: \u201cHe sticks around for a brew ands I play a video game with him. It\u2019s either \u2018Asteroids\u2019 or \u2018Tank Commander\u2019, one of the latest video game crazes.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cPaul was a lovely fellow, still down to earth and quite prepared to be friendly to us young upstarts.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nSir Paul\u2019s love of computers is still going strong as in June he revealed how artificial intelligence has been used to create a new Beatles song.<\/p>\n
\nHe clarified the statement days later, saying \u201cnothing has been artificially or synthetically created\u201d.<\/p>\n
\nPaul had announced he\u2019d employed AI technology on an unreleased Beatles demo from the 70s, telling BBC Radio 4\u2019s Today programme the technology had been used to \u201cextricate\u201d John Lennon\u2019s voice from a cassette recording of the demo.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: \u201cWe were able to take John\u2019s voice and get it pure through this AI. Then we can mix the record, as you would normally do. It gives you some sort of leeway.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nPaul later added on social media: \u201cWe\u2019ve seen some confusion and speculation about it. Seems to be a lot of guess work out there.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\u201cCan\u2019t say too much at this stage but to be clear, nothing has been artificially or synthetically created.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cIt\u2019s all real and we all play on it. We cleaned up some existing recordings \u2013 a process which has gone on for years.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cWe hope you love it as much as we do.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
