In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/23963237-authors-v-openai?responsive=1&amp;title=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a lawsuit filed on Friday<\/a>, Michael Chabon, David Henry Hwang, Rachel Louise Snyder, and Ayelet Waldman allege OpenAI benefits and profits from the \u201cunauthorized and illegal use\u201d of their copyrighted content.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph mb-20 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1 selection:bg-franklin-20 dark:text-white dark:selection:bg-blurple [&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-franklin dark:[&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-blurple [&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-black dark:[&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-white\">The lawsuit is seeking class-action status and calls out ChatGPT\u2019s ability to summarize and analyze the content written by the authors, stating this \u201cis only possible\u201d if OpenAI trained its GPT large language model on their works.
