The MTV Video Music Awards<\/a> always boasts a lengthy roster of performers, but the schedule for 2023\u2019s event<\/a> seems even more jam-packed than usual.<\/p>\n

Nicki Minaj<\/strong><\/a> is set to perform triple duty, hosting the show and performing twice \u2014 once on her own and again as part of a massive tribute to the 50th anniversary of hip-hop. \u201cWhy would the @vmas let me host this show??? \ud83d\ude02 knowing I\u2019m\u2026 different,\u201d she joked via X (formerly known as Twitter) on Sunday, September 10. \u201c#Vmas see ya on the 12th NEW YAWWWK.\u201d<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s show will also feature a performance by Shakira<\/strong><\/a>, who will receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. Previous recipients of the accolade include Beyonc\u00e9<\/strong><\/a>, Madonna<\/strong><\/a>, Jennifer Lopez<\/strong><\/a> and Rihanna<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cShakira is a true global force who continues to inspire and influence the masses with her unique musical prowess,\u201d Bruce Gillmer<\/strong> \u2014 Paramount\u2019s president of music, music talent, programming and events and Paramount+\u2019s chief content officer for music \u2014 said in a statement announcing the honor. \u201cShe\u2019s a trailblazer for women around the world and one of the first artists to lead the globalization of Latin music. Her massive impact across the musical landscape will be long-lasting as she continues to create and entertain at the highest level.\u201d<\/p>\n

Anitta<\/h3>\n

The Brazilian superstar will perform her song \u201cFunk Rave\u201d and team up with K-pop band Tomorrow X Together for the song \u201cBack for More.\u201d<\/p>\n

Doja Cat<\/h3>\n

After hosting the show in 2021, Doja Cat<\/strong><\/a> will return to the VMAs stage as a performer \u2014 possibly in the guise of alter ego Scarlet. Her fourth album, also named Scarlet<\/em>, is due out on September 22<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Fall Out Boy<\/h3>\n

The beloved emo band \u2014 and four-time VMA winners \u2014 will perform after a jam-packed year, which saw the release of their eighth studio album, So Much (for) Stardust<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Hip-Hop 50th Anniversary Medley<\/h3>\n

Minaj, DMC<\/strong>, Doug E. Fresh<\/strong>, Lil Wayne<\/strong><\/a>, LL Cool J<\/strong><\/a> and Grandmaster Flash<\/strong> and the Furious Five are set to team up for a tribute to the 50th anniversary of hip-hop.<\/p>\n

Demi Lovato<\/a><\/h3>\n

After her surprise appearance on The Masked Singer<\/em><\/a> as Anonymouse<\/a>, Lovato will take the stage at the VMAs for an as-yet-announced song. She is gearing up for the September 15 release of Revamped<\/em>, which will include re-recorded rock versions of 10 of her past songs.<\/p>\n

Topping this year\u2019s VMA nominees with eight nominations is Taylor Swift as she looks for a repeat \u201cVideo of the Year\u201d win after breaking records in 2022 to become the only [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Karol G<\/h3>\n

The Colombian artist will likely play something from her latest album, Ma\u00f1ana Ser\u00e1 Bonito<\/em>, but some fans are also hoping she\u2019ll pop up for a \u201cTQG\u201d segment during Shakira\u2019s medley.<\/p>\n

Diddy<\/a><\/h3>\n

The rapper is receiving the Global Icon Award this year, becoming the third recipient following the Foo Fighters in 2021 and the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 2022. Diddy is expected to perform a medley of his biggest hits.<\/p>\n

The Italian glam rockers will hit the VMAs stage for the second year a row, this time with their new song \u201cHoney (Are U Coming?).\u201d<\/p>\n

The Memphis-born rapper is one of two artists set to perform during the preshow.<\/p>\n

Kelsea Ballerini<\/h3>\n

Ballerini is the only country artist scheduled for this year\u2019s VMAs \u2014 and it\u2019s her first time performing at the event \u2014 so there\u2019s no doubt she\u2019ll put on a good show.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s safe to say Rodrigo\u2019s appearance is one of the most anticipated performances of the evening, given that her second album, Guts<\/em>, debuted just days ago<\/a>. Will she sing \u201cVampire,\u201d \u201cBad Idea Right?\u201d or something else? Place your bets now!<\/p>\n

Sabrina Carpenter<\/a><\/h3>\n

After wrapping up her gig as an opener on the Mexican and South American dates of Taylor Swift<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s Eras Tour<\/em>, Carpenter will perform during the VMAs preshow<\/p>\n

Cardi B<\/a> and Megan Thee Stallion<\/a><\/h3>\n

The dynamic duo will perform their latest collaboration, \u201cBongos,\u201d which comes three years after the release of their hit \u201cWAP.\u201d<\/p>\n
