Monte Taylor<\/strong><\/a> went into season 2 of The Challenge: USA<\/em><\/a> swearing off showmances after his experience hooking up with Taylor Hale<\/strong><\/a> on Big Brother 24<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cBefore I went on Big Brother<\/em><\/a>, my mom made it very clear, and my mom\u2019s Puerto Rican \u2026 she was like, \u2018No Chicas,\u2019 which means no girls, and I held out as long as I possibly could until I didn\u2019t,\u201d Monte, 28, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> on Friday, September 8, one day after his elimination from The Challenge: USA <\/em>aired.<\/p>\n

Monte told Us that \u201cthe aftermath\u201d of his showmance with Taylor, 28, was \u201cdefinitely a unique experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cAs a man on reality TV \u2026 some of the things that you hear online after things don\u2019t work out in a relationship, it [can] definitely be tough. So, I just didn\u2019t want to go through that again. It was a bit of a traumatizing experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIt\u2019s tough to win Big Brother without some sort of alliance \u2014 but it\u2019s even more difficult if you\u2019re one half of a showmance. However, that doesn\u2019t stop competitors, time and time again, from pairing up while in the house. \u201cThe secret no one knows about Big Brother \u2014 I think it\u2019s really a marriage [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Monte and Taylor \u2014 who placed second and first<\/a>, respectively, during the 2022 season \u2014 surprised fans when they were seen kissing<\/a> on the live feeds. Taylor had previously admitted to having a crush on houseguest Joseph Abdin<\/strong><\/a>, whom she went on to date<\/a> for six months after the season ended.<\/p>\n

Prior to his showmance with Taylor, Monte was among the houseguests who sparked backlash from fans<\/a> for making negative comments<\/a> about her. \u201cTaylor\u2019s personality is just so unattractive,\u201d he said during a July 2022 conversation captured on the live feeds.<\/p>\n

After they got out of the house, Taylor slammed Monte\u2019s treatment of her, claiming that \u201cthere were deeply misogynystic undertones\u201d to his behavior. \u201cMy journey [on the show] started and ended with Monte degrading me,\u201d she claimed during an October 2022 appearance on \u201cRob Has a Podcast.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tControversies are nothing new for Big Brother. The show has been criticized for racism and discrimination over the years, making major waves with an incident that occurred in season 15. During the 2013 season, Aaryn Gries referred to Asian people as \u201csquinty-eyed,\u201d called her Black roommate Candice Stewart \u201cAunt Jemima\u201d and asked her Korean housemate\u00a0Helen [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

After Taylor became the first Black woman to win Big Brother<\/em> in September 2022, Monte exclusively told Us<\/em> that he did \u201cnot remember\u201d making negative comments about her earlier in the season.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve had conversations with Taylor where I have come to terms with the fact that I was not aware of everything that was truly going on, and my perspective on things was completely different,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd based off of the information I was working with, I made those statements and I apologized to Taylor for the fact that I thought of her in a different light<\/a> earlier on in the season.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for his return to reality TV, Monte told Us<\/em> that there \u201cwere opportunities\u201d for him to have a showmance on The Challenge: USA<\/em>, but he \u201cdecided not to, just for my peace of mind.\u201d However, he noted that he has \u201cthicker skin now\u201d and might be open to romance if he\u2019s invited back for another stint on the competition series.<\/p>\n

While many fans didn\u2019t think Paulie Calafiore and Cara Maria Sorbello would create a real bond after meeting on Final Reckoning in 2018, but they proved the haters wrong. [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

While Monte didn\u2019t find love on The Challenge: USA<\/em>, his fellow Big Brother 24<\/em> alum Alyssa Snider<\/strong> <\/a>kissed Tyler Crispen<\/strong><\/a>, who competed on Big Brother 20<\/em> and Big Brother<\/em> 22 in 2018 and 2020, respectively, during an episode of the show that aired last month.<\/p>\n

Monte worked closely with both Alyssa, 25, and Tyler, 28, in the game and told Us<\/em> that he was rooting for their romance<\/a>.<\/p>\n
