Jimmy Fallon<\/a><\/strong> has apologized to staff at NBC\u2019s Tonight Show<\/strong><\/em> following allegations that he had created a \u201ctoxic\u201d work environment.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel so bad I can\u2019t even tell you,\u201d he told staff on a Zoom call, according to Rolling Stone<\/a><\/em> magazine.<\/p>\n

It follows an investigation by the magazine which exposed damaging allegations from 16 of the US TV show\u2019s current and former staff.<\/p>\n

They told Rolling Stone<\/a><\/em> that for years, they felt belittled and intimidated.<\/p>\n

They described Fallon\u2019s behavior as \u201cerratic\u201d \u2013 depending on whether he was having a \u201cgood Jimmy day\u201d or a \u201cbad Jimmy day.\u201d<\/p>\n

They said they were subject to angry \u201coutbursts.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Rolling Stone\u2019s original story, which revealed the allegations, the guests\u2019 dressing rooms were called \u201ccrying rooms.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWriting for late night is a lot of people\u2019s dream jobs, and they\u2019re coming into this and it becomes a nightmare very quickly,\u201d an anonymous person told the magazine.<\/p>\n

For those who had concerns and expressed them to human resources, the issues remained unresolved, the magazine reported.<\/p>\n

All current and former staff who spoke to Rolling Stone requested anonymity \u201cout of fear of retaliation.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a statement, a spokesperson for NBC wrote: \u201cWe are incredibly proud of The Tonight Show<\/em>, and providing a respectful working environment is a top priority\u2026 As in any workplace, we have had employees raise issues; those have been investigated and action has been taken where appropriate.\u201d<\/p>\n

After the Rolling Stone<\/em> investigation, Fallon reportedly told the show\u2019s staff: \u201cIt\u2019s embarrassing and I feel so bad.<\/p>\n

\u201cSorry if I embarrassed you and your family and friends.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, some current show employees have come to Fallon\u2019s defense.<\/p>\n

One told People<\/a><\/em> magazine that Fallon was \u201ca really, really positive guy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe makes a point of commending you when you do a great job and when he\u2019s happy,\u201d said the employee, who also requested to remain anonymous. \u201cI\u2019ve never been belittled, yelled at, nothing like that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m really happy to work there right now,\u201d another employee, who said they had not heard of \u201ccrying rooms,\u201d told People<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The Tonight Show<\/em> has had nine different show-runners \u2013 top-level TV producers \u2013 since Fallon took over as the show\u2019s host in 2014.<\/p>\n

In its debut with Fallon, the show had over 11 million viewers.<\/p>\n
