Roblox<\/em> will finally be available on PlayStation soon. At its 2023 Roblox Developers Conference (RDC) on Friday, Roblox announced<\/a> that its popular social and gaming app is coming to PS4 and PS5 in October.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Roblox<\/em>, which is free to download, is already out on a bunch of platforms, including PC, Mac, iOS, Android, and Xbox, but the lack of support for Sony\u2019s consoles has felt like a notable hole in Roblox\u2019s lineup. There have been some clues that a PlayStation version has been in the works, though: a 2022 job listing indicated that Roblox was hiring for a PlayStation engineer<\/a>, and CEO David Baszucki hinted on an August earnings call<\/a> that the company has been looking at bringing the app to PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Roblox promises that PlayStation players will be able to access \u201cthe full catalog of Roblox experiences,\u201d so it sounds like you\u2019ll be able to log in to your account and jump right into your favorite experiences once the app is available on PS4 and PS5.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n I asked the company about a potential Switch launch. \u201cWe want Roblox to be on all devices, anywhere around the world. At this time, we currently have no imminent plans to have Roblox<\/em> available on the Nintendo Switch,\u201d spokesperson Roman Skuratovskiy said in a statement to The Verge<\/em>. However, onstage at RDC, Baszucki heavily<\/em> teased that Roblox will be expanding to more places: \u201cstay tuned, because there are more platforms to come.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The company also shared that the Meta Quest Roblox<\/em> app will be \u201cwidely available\u201d later in September. Roblox released an open beta of the Quest app in July<\/a>, and it got over a million installs<\/a> in the first five days following that launch. There are also upgrades coming to the Xbox app, including an improved user experience and the promise of frequent updates.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
