Last November, we noted<\/a> that there were few scarier phrases in the English language than \u201cDonald Trump<\/strong>\u00a0has kicked off his third bid for the White House,\u201d except maybe \u201c\u2026and\u00a0Marjorie Taylor Greene<\/strong>\u00a0is his running mate.\u201d Unfortunately for humanity, that first waking nightmare has indeed come to pass\u2014and if the congresswoman from Georgia has anything to say about it, the second one is not far behind.<\/p>\n NBC News reports<\/a> Greene is \u201cangling to be Donald Trump\u2019s running mate in 2024,\u201d according to two people familiar with the matter who have spoken to the GOP representative about her plans for the future. \u201cThis is no shrinking violet, she\u2019s ambitious\u2014she\u2019s not shy about that, nor should she be,\u201d former Trump adviser and convicted criminal<\/a> Steve Bannon<\/strong> told the outlet. \u201cShe sees herself on the short list for Trump\u2019s VP. Paraphrasing [the late political reporter] Cokie Roberts, when MTG looks in the mirror she sees a potential president smiling back.\u201d (Earlier this month, the Daily Beast reported<\/a> that Greene was indeed on Trump\u2018s short list, along with Representative Elise Stefanik,<\/strong> South Dakota governor Kristi Noem,<\/strong> failed gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake,<\/strong> and Democratic presidential candidate turned Fox News contributor Tulsi Gabbard.<\/strong>) Another person told reporter Jonathan Allen<\/strong> that Greene\u2019s \u201cwhole vision is to be vice president,\u201d adding that they believe she should be among the candidates the ex-president considers.<\/p>\n The same sources told NBC News that Greene\u2019s vision explains her \u201crecent efforts to\u00a0rebrand\u00a0herself as a politician who can stand astride the divide between the party\u2019s hard-liners and its establishment wing,\u201d and \u201cthrew herself into helping elect Rep. Kevin McCarthy<\/strong>\u201d as Speaker of the House. \u201cShe\u2019s both strategic and disciplined\u2014she made a power move, knowing it would run up hard against her most ardent crew,\u201d Bannon told Allen, referring to Greene\u2019s break with her pals in the Freedom Caucus<\/a>, whose opposition to McCarthy led to the California lawmaker losing the Speaker vote a whopping 14 times before his ultimate win. \u201cShe was prepared to take the intense heat\/hatred short-term for the long-term goal of being a player.\u201d<\/p>\n Of course, Greene can attempt to rebrand herself all she wants, but the fact remains that it will be hard for voters to forget about what they already know about her, the lowlights of which include that she:<\/p>\n And that\u2019s just, like, a sampling.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
