With the second half of Yellowstone<\/em><\/a>\u2018s season 5 yet to begin production due to the Writer\u2019s Guild of America and Screen Actors Guild strikes, country singer Lainey Wilson<\/strong><\/a> has given fans an update on if her character Abby will be appearing on the show after her romance with Ian Bohen<\/strong>\u2018s Ryan seemed to be coming to an end.<\/p>\n She hopes so. Lainey told Country Living<\/em><\/a> in May 2023, \u201cI\u2019m realizing that the TV business is just as crazy, if not crazier, than the music business.\u201d and that she\u2019s \u201cwaiting for Taylor Sheridan<\/strong> to give me the green light and between tour and everything we\u2019ll figure it out,\u201d referring to the show\u2019s co-creator and executive producer.<\/p>\n \u201cI haven\u2019t got a call yet,\u201d Lainey told Entertinament Tonight<\/em><\/a> in April about being part of the final episodes of season 5, adding, \u201cbut as far as I know they don\u2019t even know when they\u2019re going to be filming.\u201d However, she was hopeful that she\u2019d be part of it. \u201cI have a really good feeling that if they do finish things in a way that, you know, they\u2019re planning, I will be back in it,\u201d she said. \u201cWe\u2019ll see, they haven\u2019t taken me to the train station yet.\u201d<\/p>\n A\u00a0scheduling dispute with the show\u2019s star Kevin Costner<\/strong><\/a> resulted in a months-long production delay on the second half of season 5. Production was supposed to begin in May 2023, but was derailed by the May 2\u00a0writers strike, followed by the July 13 SAG-AFTRA strike, which shut down all U.S.-produced series, including Yellowstone<\/em>.<\/p>\n The \u201cHeart Like a Truck\u201d singer didn\u2019t have to stray far from real life, as she played a local musician named Abby who was introduced on the first episode of season 5<\/a>, which was Lainey\u2019s acting debut. Her character struck up a relationship with Ryan, one of the bunkhouse boys on the Yellowstone ranch, when John Dutton \u2014 played by Kevin\u2013 hosted his inaugural celebration as the new governor of Montana.<\/p>\n Fans fell for the new romance, but at the end of season 5\u2019s part one, Ryan was told Abby he had to leave Montana for a year to help move a herd to Texas. Abby was last seen kissing him and telling Ryan,\u00a0\u201cChasing a dream? That I understand, and I hope you catch it. Just wish that dream was me.\u201d<\/p>\n Several Lainey\u2019s songs have been featured on the show starting with \u201cWorking Overtime\u201d in season 2.
