(Photo Credit: Instagram)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\nTeen Mom<\/em> franchise stars Leah Messer, Catelynn Lowell, and Tyler Baltierra spoke to the good folks at TooFab <\/em>in a recent interview.<\/p>\nTheir children aren\u2019t babies anymore. They know that they\u2019re famous.<\/p>\n
And they\u2019re old enough to have opinions about appearing on camera. So how do their parents draw appropriate lines to protect their kids?<\/p>\nCatelynn Lowell, Tyler Baltierra and Nova and Vaeda, their girls, in a touching photo honoring Father\u2019s Day \u2013 their first as a family of four! (Instagram)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\u201cWell, I think for us, our kids know, like Nova will be like, \u2018Mom, I don\u2019t want to film today. I don\u2019t want nothing to do with it,\u2019 or whatever,\u201d Catelynn explained.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd we respect that,\u201d she emphasized, adding: \u201cAnd so does our producer.\u201d<\/p>\n
Notably, some reality shows have encountered \u201cproblems\u201d (depending upon whom you ask) involving producers pressuring reality stars to film. Or keeping cameras on to capture private conversations.<\/p>\nLeah Messer poses here for a very cute Instagram photo in June 2023. (Instagram)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\u201cIt\u2019s more or less like we don\u2019t share every little thing that our kid tells us that\u2019s going on in her life,\u201d Catelynn elaborated.<\/p>\n
This, she explained, is \u201cbecause she has the right to share that when she\u2019s ready.\u201d Nova, like all children, is a person.<\/p>\n
Catelynn then mentioned: \u201cIf she opens up about it on camera, then that\u2019s her thing.\u201d<\/p>\nTyler Baltierra says he and Catelynn Lowell\u2019s unique situations resulted in some unique challenges over the years. But he credits his kids with helping him through. (Instagram)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\nLeah chimed in to agree. She emphasized the importance of respecting the privacy of her daughters. And she has a similar policy in her own home.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve made their bedroom their sacred space,\u201d she characterized.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo if they do not want to film in there, we do not film in there,\u201d Leah affirmed. \u201cIf they don\u2019t want to film at all \u2026 that\u2019s been respected.\u201d<\/p>\nLeah Messer took her daughters to a Pride parade over the weekend. \u201cHaving that has also allowed them to enjoy filming,\u201d Leah detailed. <\/p>\n
\u201cThey enjoy it a lot more,\u201d she explained, \u201cbecause I gave them that privacy before and it was respected.\u201d<\/p>\nCatelynn Lowell and her husband reunite here with the daughter they gave up for adoption. She added: \u201cThey enjoy it.\u201d<\/p>\n
People do tend to enjoy work more when it\u2019s something that they choose. Obviously. And some groups are absolutely failing their children.<\/p>\n
On reality TV, there are instances like Jacob Roloff. The moment that he turned 18, he left Little People, Big World<\/em> and moved away \u2014 because he\u2019d been filming against his will for years.<\/p>\nAnother example is \u201cmomfluencers\u201d (or other Family Vloggers) who turn their children\u2019s lives into \u201ccontent.\u201d Honestly? We desperately need federal laws to protect minors. Not everyone\u2019s going to make conscious choices like Tyler, Catelynn, and Leah describe.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
