Miley Cyrus<\/a><\/strong> has revealed that she \u201cdidn\u2019t make a dime\u201d from her 2014 Bangerz Tour<\/em> thanks to going big on stage props and more.<\/p>\n

The singer-songwriter spent her own money on the \u201coutlandish\u201d tour, which saw her arrive on the stage each night by sliding down a giant replica of her tongue that was poking out of the side of a mouth.<\/p>\n

Although the tour ended up grossing $62.9 million the star didn\u2019t make any profit from it herself<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Cyrus said: \u201cIt was an investment in myself. A lot of these ideas were so outlandish that no one wanted to support me in making these items.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had big puppets, oversized beds, I arrived on stage by sliding down [a giant model of] my own tongue.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t make a dime on this tour because I wanted it to be excellent, and when everyone kept saying \u2018Why are you doing this? You are going to do, like, a hundred shows and you are not going to make any money?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI said there is no one I would rather invest in than myself. I paid for it all to make it exactly what I and the fans deserved.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cyrus\u2019 comments come after she said last week that touring \u201cisn\u2019t healthy\u201d for her.<\/p>\n

Speaking in a \u2018Used To Be Young\u2019 interview series for TikTok on August 27, and following the release of her new song of the same name, the pop star opened up about the various reasons she finds that aspect of being a music artist so challenging.<\/p>\n

It was confirmed in May that Cyrus would take a hiatus from touring, sharing that \u201csinging for hundreds of thousands of people isn\u2019t really the thing that I love.\u201d<\/p>\n

The mixed response from fans prompted her to clear up the misinterpretation on social media, writing: \u201cFor clarity I feel connected to my fans NOW more than ever.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the new interview clip, Cyrus elaborated that \u201cwhat people don\u2019t really understand about touring\u201d is that \u201cthe show is only 90 minutes, but that\u2019s your life\u201d.<\/p>\n

She continued: \u201cIf you\u2019re performing at a certain level of intensity and excellence, there should be an equal amount of recovery and rest.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a level of ego that has to play a part, that I feel gets overused when I\u2019m on tour and once that switches on, it\u2019s hard to turn it off. And I think when you\u2019re training your ego every single night to be active, that\u2019s the hardest switch for me to turn off.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cyrus said, \u201chaving every day, the relationship between you and other humans being \u2018subject\u2019 and \u2018observer\u2019, isn\u2019t healthy for me.\u201d<\/p>\n

The singer continued: \u201cBecause it erases my humanity and my connection. And without my humanity and my connection, I can\u2019t be a songwriter, which is my priority.\u201d<\/p>\n
