Hollywood\u2019s most celebrated actors and actresses aren\u2019t always the most decorated.<\/p>\n Despite having amassed notoriety and critical acclaim, there are plenty of stars who come up short in the awards department \u2014 at least as far as the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences is concerned.<\/p>\n John Travolta<\/strong><\/a>, for instance, has been nominated twice but came up short of a win both times, as did his Pulp Fiction<\/em> costar Samuel L. Jackson<\/strong><\/a>, who was nominated in one category for the film in 1994. However, the latter became a winner in March 2022 with an honorary Oscar presented by Denzel Washington<\/strong> <\/a>at the Governor\u2019s Awards days before the televised ceremony.<\/p>\n \u201cI guarantee you, this this is going to be cherished,\u201d Jackson told the audience.<\/p>\n Other beloved celebs, including Jennifer Aniston<\/strong><\/a> and Blake Lively<\/strong><\/a>, have never even had the honor of being recognized by the prestigious group, with no nominations to their names.<\/p>\n While some stars keep quiet about their snubs, others are more outspoken. In 2019, Jim Carrey<\/strong><\/a> admitted that he has no interest in the campaign strategy that coincides with awards season.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of monkey business that goes on around awards,\u201d Carrey, who\u2019s scored two Golden Globes throughout his career but is still without a single Oscar nomination, told Vanity Fair<\/em><\/a>. \u201c[It\u2019s a] gigantic clusterf\u2013k. \u2026 If you don\u2019t show up to a certain dinner, you screw your chances and all those things. Before earning her eighth nomination<\/a> from the Academy in March 2021, the Hillbilly Elegy<\/em> actress sat down for a virtual chat<\/a> with Pete Davidson<\/strong><\/a> \u2014 who couldn\u2019t believe Close didn\u2019t have an Oscar to her name.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat can we do to get you an Oscar?\u201d the SNL<\/em> star asked in the January 2021 Variety<\/em><\/a> interview. \u201cWe have to get the internet to help because you deserve seven!\u201d<\/p>\n Close, however, wasn\u2019t too concerned. \u201cIs it better to be wheeled out in a wheelchair and get the lifetime achievement award?\u201d she teased at the time. \u201cYou don\u2019t have to make a speech. It\u2019s beyond me. I don\u2019t know what to say about that. I just have to keep doing what\u2019s good. You\u2019re fulfilled by your work<\/a>, and that\u2019s the process to me.
