Saturday Night Live<\/em><\/a> alum Jay Pharoah<\/strong><\/a> celebrated his recent weight loss victory by sharing his secret.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve lost about 20 pounds in the last 3 weeks, totally intentional,\u201d the comedian, 35, wrote via Twitter<\/a> on Saturday, January 21. \u201cI should teach a class. Holiday weight GYONNNNEEEEE.\u201d<\/p>\n After Pharoah rejoiced in his accomplishment, his followers were curious to know how he managed to do so in such little time. \u201cControlled diet and 6-8 miles of running on level 12, 6 times a week, weight fell off like [pot] roast meat,\u201d he replied.<\/p>\n This isn\u2019t the first time the Virginia native got candid about his dieting and workout routines. In December 2020, Pharoah opened up about how he lost 25 pounds at the time.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s no secret that quarantine let everybody get a little bit loose,\u201d he said in an interview with Men\u2019s Health<\/em><\/a>. \u201cI had a lot of fried food over the pandemic and gained some weight. Now, thanks to me for setting up my own gym system and to me juicing, I dropped 25 pounds.\u201d<\/p>\n Pharoah told the outlet that while he does prioritize having a controlled diet, he did find it difficult to keep up \u2014 especially during his busy work schedule.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ll indulge, have a nice burger, and get some fries, but make sure that I get back on track afterwards,\u201d he confessed. \u201cThat\u2019s a timeshare. Enjoy it while we\u2019re here but we\u2019re not going to stay here.\u201d<\/p>\n Pharoah was a cast member on the NBC sketch comedy show from 2010 to 2016 and was best known for his portrayals of Barack Obama<\/strong><\/a>, Kanye West<\/strong><\/a>, Ben Carson<\/strong> and Will Smith<\/strong><\/a>. One year after his exit<\/a>, the Resort to Love<\/em> actor opened up about his departure<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cYou go where you\u2019re appreciated,\u201d Pharoah recalled during an April 2017 interview with Hot 97\u2019s Ebro in the Morning<\/em><\/a>. \u201cAnd if you have multiple people on the cast saying things like, \u2018You\u2019re so talented and you\u2019re so able. They don\u2019t use you and it\u2019s unfair and it\u2019s making us feel bad.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n During his time on SNL<\/em>, the standup comic struck up a friendship with his costar Pete Davidson<\/strong><\/a>. In November 2022, Pharoah seemingly confirmed the New York native\u2019s \u201cBDE\u201d energy<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s something in the sauce. He got something, OK. He got something inside,\u201d he teased while appearing on SiriusXM\u2019s The Jess Cagle Show<\/em><\/a> at the time. \u201cI talk to him, I\u2019m like, \u2018Pete, man, what is it? \u2026 What do you do?\u2019 He told me what it was.
