Zavia, a writer at <em>Gizmodo en Espa\u00f1ol<\/em>, posted that the publication was shut down on August 29th and that it would now publish automatically translated articles.\u00a0<em>Gizmodo en Espa\u00f1ol<\/em> previously had a small staff who wrote original stories and created Spanish-language adaptations of pieces from the English-language <em>Gizmodo.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph mb-20 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1 selection:bg-franklin-20 dark:text-white dark:selection:bg-blurple [&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-franklin dark:[&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-blurple [&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-black dark:[&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-white\">New articles <a href=\"https:\/\/es.gizmodo.com\/nypd-drones-espias-dia-del-dia-del-barbacoas-fiestas-1850796672\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">posted on<\/a> <em>Gizmodo en Espa\u00f1ol<\/em> now feature a disclaimer at the bottom in Spanish saying that its \u201ccontents have been automatically translated from the original. Readers posted on X, formerly Twitter, that some articles will start in Spanish and then suddenly change to English.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph mb-20 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1 selection:bg-franklin-20 dark:text-white dark:selection:bg-blurple [&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-franklin dark:[&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-blurple [&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-black dark:[&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-white\">Spanish website <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adslzone.net\/noticias\/internet\/gizmodo-cierra-espana-web-videollamada\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AZ Adslzone<\/a> reported <em>Gizmodo en Espa\u00f1ol<\/em>\u2019s team was told via video call of the decision. G\/O Media did not return a request for comment.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph mb-20 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1 selection:bg-franklin-20 dark:text-white dark:selection:bg-blurple [&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-franklin dark:[&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-blurple [&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-black dark:[&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-white\">News organizations have been experimenting with generative AI to help write news stories or lists as a way to pump out more content without paying more writers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph mb-20 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1 selection:bg-franklin-20 dark:text-white dark:selection:bg-blurple [&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-franklin dark:[&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-blurple [&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-black dark:[&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-white\">G\/O Media began posting AI-written articles to <em>Gizmodo <\/em>in July, but these <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2023\/7\/6\/23785645\/go-media-ai-generated-articles-gizmodo-av-club-artificial-intelligence-bots\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">first iterations contained factual errors<\/a>. Staffers claimed they were not told the stories would be posted until shortly before publication. Journalists at G\/O Media\u2019s different outlets <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2023\/7\/8\/23788162\/gizmodo-g-o-media-ai-generated-articles-star-wars\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">expressed dismay<\/a> with the decision to publish AI-generated stories without their knowledge, and their union, GMG Union, asked readers not to click on any AI-written news.
