Naomi Watts<\/strong><\/a> is getting candid about her love life!<\/p>\n During an event in Hampton Bays, New York on Thursday night (August 31), the 54-year-old actress opened up about keeping her libido \u201calive\u201d while going through menopause. <\/p>\n She noted that open communication with her husband Billy Crudup<\/strong><\/a> has been the \u201cbiggest key\u201d to their successful relationship, adding that they have \u201cpretty great sex.\u201d<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve heard tonight that there are complications, keeping the sex and the libido alive and everything, but sometimes people have the complete reverse effect,\u201d Naomi <\/strong>said. The Mulholland Drive<\/em> actress previously revealed that she went through early menopause when she was 36 years old<\/a>, an experience that inspired her to create her own wellness brand, Stripes<\/em>. <\/p>\n She continued, \u201cIn fact, I think there was a time, generations ago, and talking about what menopause actually was\u2026 it was hysteria and some women were nymphomaniacs. Like we were just crazy old crows that wanted sex too much. I personally think sex becomes more pleasurable when you take out the fear of like making babies.<\/p>\n \u201c\u2026When you know it\u2019s not the right time\u2026 like what is that expression\u2026 \u2018closed for business, open for pleasure!\u2019 It feels more, \u2018I\u2019m going to do this for myself,\u2019\u201d Naomi <\/strong>explained. \u201cYou\u2019re more confident with yourself, you\u2019ve had experience, you\u2019re wiser, you\u2019re not going to be all like, \u2018Oh I want to turn the lights down.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n She also admitted that she and Billy <\/strong>– who tied the knot back in June<\/a> \u2013 were still in the \u201choneymoon stage.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cLike whatever it is you\u2019re going through, if you can talk to your partner, if you can be honest and have a really authentic conversation and take away the awkwardness, and most of the time if they\u2019re good people, they will be empathetic and that\u2019s hot,\u201d Naomi <\/strong>said. \u201cThat\u2019s really hot when you can be honest and the conversation lands really well to the point where, \u2018yeah we got through the awkwardness and now like, let\u2019s kick off some fun.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n She went on to say that in the beginning of her relationship with Billy<\/strong>, she was a little insecure because she had just started using estrogen patches. <\/p>\n \u201cThis is a little bit personal but in the beginning of my relationship, I was wearing my patch and I was nervous that my new lover was going to see it,\u201d she revealed. \u201cI went into the bathroom just before it would start and I\u2019d be in there [trying to scrub off the sticky residue that the patch left on her skin] and then I\u2019d come out and my gorgeous partner said, \u2018Are you okay? Is everything okay?\u2019<\/p>\n \u201cAnd the minute I brought honesty into the room, despite how awkward and hard that was for me \u2014 I\u2019ve had so much shame about it \u2014 he knew how to behave, he knew what cues to follow, he was 100 per cent empathetic and I can safely say we went on to have you know, pretty great sex that night,\u201d she shared.<\/p>\n She added that \u201cit gets exhausting having all these rules and this ideology of how you must look,\u201d telling audience members to \u201cget what [you] want and say it boldly.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI think it takes experience and growing into yourself and getting to know what you love and like, and you can\u2019t learn that or buy that, that is just the upside of leaning into this phase of life, and so I think a lot of women are horny at this age,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n Naomi <\/strong>even answered a question about her favorite sex position, replying: \u201cOn top, underneath!
