Kelly Stafford<\/strong><\/a> isn\u2019t usually afraid to speak her mind, but she wishes she could take back a few of her recent comments about husband Matthew Stafford<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s relationship with his Los Angeles Rams teammates<\/a>.<\/p>\n

During a recent episode of her \u201cThe Morning After\u201d podcast, Kelly, 34, said that Matthew, 35, has had trouble connecting with some of the younger players on his team. \u201cHe said it\u2019s so different and so hard to get to know these guys,\u201d she told listeners. \u201cHe had a book printed out. He had the equipment guy get a book printed of all their faces and all their names, because he\u2019s like, \u2018I need to know their names.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Kelly\u2019s remarks raised eyebrows among some NFL fans \u2014 and she now has some regrets about spilling the tea. \u201cI felt pretty bad last week,\u201d she said during an interview with Detroit news station Local 4<\/a> published on Thursday, August 31. \u201cI put my foot in my mouth pretty good last week.\u201d<\/p>\n

She went on to describe the comments as \u201cprobably the worst thing\u201d she\u2019s done \u201cwhen it comes\u201d to Matthew. \u201cI spoke on a topic that \u2026 [is] relatable, to the fact that it\u2019s hard to relate to someone who is 10 years younger than you,\u201d she continued. \u201c And I do think that\u2019s entirely true. But I\u2019m not in an NFL locker room, I\u2019m not spending every day with these teammates.\u201d<\/p>\n

While some listeners took Kelly\u2019s words very seriously, Rams coach Sean McVay<\/strong> said he wasn\u2019t concerned about discord among the team. \u201cI took that as more of a joke at the old man,\u201d McVay, 37, told reporters<\/a> on Tuesday, August 29. \u201cI mean, if you watch and if you come out to camp, this guy\u2019s done a phenomenal job of leading, connecting with his teammates. I think it\u2019s one of those deals that becomes a fun narrative in a dead period. And I know Kelly well enough to know that she was probably taking a good old rib at the old man as her husband\u2019s getting older playing, but this guy\u2019s done a phenomenal job, and I know how much he loves his teammates and how much they love him.\u201d<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t the first time Kelly \u2014 who shares twins<\/a> Chandler and Sawyer, 6, and daughters Hunter, 5, and Tyler, 3, with Matthew \u2014 has made headlines for her comments<\/a>. In 2020, she came under fire for calling the state of Michigan a \u201cdictatorship\u201d because of its coronavirus restrictions. (Matthew, who wed Kelly in 2015<\/a>, was then playing for the Detroit Lions.)<\/p>\n
