In July, the labor union \u2014 which represents more than 160,000 TV and film actors \u2014 voted to go on strike after the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Driver\u2019s is attending the festival to promote<\/a> his newest film Ferrari<\/em><\/a>. The drama follows the life of Italian sports car entrepreneur, Enzo Ferrari and is an independent film<\/a> put on by Neon and helmed by Micheal Mann<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\u201cWhen this opportunity came up, it seemed like [an] understanding [to[ the interim agreement,\u201d he explained at the press conference about his desire to sign on for the project. \u201cIt\u2019s a no-brainer for all these reasons why you want to support your union and I\u2019m here because of that, to support and stand in solidarity with them by showing and just further proving the point that [it] is really is about the people you make [the film] with and that\u2019s very resonant with our movie.\u201d<\/p>\n\n![\"Adam](\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Adam-Driver-Calls-Out-Netflix-and-Amazon-for-Not-Meeting-SAG-AFTRA-Strike-Demands-408.jpg?w=700&quality=86&strip=all\")

Ahead of Ferrari\u2019s release, Mann, 80, spoke to Variety<\/em><\/a> about why he chose to partner with an independent distributor<\/a> for the movie.<\/p>\n\u201cThe origins of the movie and the content of the screenplay and the movie that you saw do not fit into the kind of film that would be embraced by the conventional studio system,\u201d Mann explained earlier this month. \u201cIt\u2019s truly appropriate that it is an independent film being distributed by Neon, a very independent distributor.\u201d<\/p>\n
