Matt James<\/strong><\/a> is ready for mom Patty James<\/strong> <\/a>to find love on The Golden Bachelor<\/em><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The former season 25 Bachelor<\/em> took to social media on Wednesday, August 30, to cheer his mom on after it was revealed that she would be part of the senior-led ABC dating series, which follows Gerry Turner<\/strong> <\/a>in his quest for a second chance at romance.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI ccc uuu mama,\u201d Matt wrote above Patty\u2019s headshot via his Instagram Story, adding a heart on fire emoji while SZA\u2019s<\/strong><\/a> song \u201cSnooze\u201d played in the background.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

ABC revealed earlier on Wednesday which women would be vying for Turner\u2019s heart. While most of the group are new to reality TV, Patty made her first appearance on Matt\u2019s season of The Bachelor<\/em><\/a> in 2021.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSooo exciting\u2026\u201d Patty, 70, wrote via her Instagram<\/a> alongside a photo of the cast following the big announcement on Wednesday. Matt, meanwhile, continued to show his mom support by posting three more red heart on fire emojis via the comments section.<\/span><\/p>\n

Patty was previously married to Manny James <\/strong>but the\u00a0pair split when their children were little, according to a 2019 Wake Forest Magazine<\/em><\/a> article. (In addition to Matt, Patty and Manny also share son John.)<\/span><\/p>\n

During a January appearance on The Tamron Hall Show<\/em>, Matt admitted that his past dating struggles stemmed from his parent\u2019s divorce.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI saw what infidelity looked like at a young age<\/a>. I saw family members that were against the relationship and doubling down on it after seeing the infidelity between my dad and my mom,\u201d he explained, noting that he consciously signed up for<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>The Bachelor<\/em> \u201cnot wanting to perpetuate that behavior.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Matt made history in 2021 as the franchise\u2019s first Black Bachelor and ultimately found love with his season 25 finalist, Rachel Kirkconnell<\/strong><\/a>. Prior to giving his final rose, a source exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> that Matt was looking for a woman who \u201che can bring home to his mom. Someone who\u2019s intelligent, smart, big sense of humor. \u2026 Someone who cares about their physical well-being and their health. He\u2019s a man with very high standards.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tWhile some roses stand the test of time, others wilt before the Neil Lane engagement ring can be resized. The Bachelor premiered on ABC in March 2002 with Alex Michel dubbed the world\u2019s most eligible Bachelor. More than 20 women competed for his heart and one of the most successful reality TV franchises was born. [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In July, Kirkconnell, 26, exclusively told Us<\/em>\u00a0that she \u201ctruly, truly, truly\u201d didn\u2019t know if Patty signed up for The Golden Bachelor<\/em>, but she\u2019s \u201crooting for [Patty to find] love any day, whether it\u2019s on TV or off.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Matt\u2019s BFF and former roommate, Tyler Cameron<\/strong><\/a>, also gushed about the prospect of seeing Patty find romance on TV. \u201cI think she\u2019d be great. I think she\u2019d be fun [to watch],\u201d Tyler, 30, told Us earlier this month \u201cShe\u2019s the sweetest lady ever, though. Don\u2019t know how that fairs for people on the show being really sweet and nice.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The Golden Bachelor<\/em> was greenlit in May and ABC announced Gerry, 71, as the lead two months later. The news came after a search for senior contestants went on for years, leading some fans to wonder whether the spinoff would happen at all.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Prior to looking for love on reality TV, Gerry was married to his high school sweetheart,<\/a> Toni, who died in 2017. The couple shared two daughters, Jenny and Angie, who \u2014 along with granddaughters Charlee and Payton \u2014 are all \u201cvery excited\u201d about his upcoming Bachelor Nation debut. \u201cThey send me a lot of positive reinforcement,\u201d he told<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/a>Variety<\/em> <\/a>earlier this month.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While Gerry\u2019s run as the Bachelor will follow almost all of the normal rules of the dating series, there will be one major difference \u2014 the Fantasy Suite date nights.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI just think that a Fantasy Suite for someone of my age<\/a> may look quite different,\u201d Gerry told Entertainment Tonight<\/em><\/a><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>in an August interview. \u201cThe activities could be quite different than for someone in their 20s and 30s.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Gerry noted that he\u2019s not nervous about the overnight dates, but his family<\/a> is more wary. \u201c[It makes] my daughters a lot more nervous than me.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
