The \u2018Terminator\u2019 actor, 76, who was a former bricklayer, appears in an advert as the spokesman for the discount brand\u2019s Parkside range, which includes a \u00a324.99 angle grinder and a plasma cutter for nearly \u00a3150.<\/p>\n
He says in the promo, titled \u2018Parkside \u2013 You got this!\u2019, which references his \u2018Terminator\u2019 and bodybuilding past: \u201cI\u2019m here to talk about the tools of success.<\/p>\n
\u201cEverything I\u2019ve ever built was because I had the power in the palm of my hands.\u201d<\/p>\n
The clip then shows him chucking a power drill at a weedy man in a garage workshop who is dressed in a white vest.<\/p>\n
\nArnie continues as he speaks to kids in a playground: \u201cI was not afraid to fail \u2013 to think outside the box. I built a new box!\u201d<\/p>\n
\nIn a nod to his role as a killer cyborg in James Cameron\u2019s 1984 \u2018Terminator\u2019 Arnie is also seen in sunglasses that flash up a robot-style list of coordinates as he declares: \u201cA plan is only as great as the tools you use to execute it.<\/p>\n
\nHe goes on to use an angle grinder and creates a wooden sculpture of himself in a garden in the shape of him posing for a bodybuilding contest, and tells <\/p>\n
\na fellow gardener using a leaf blower: \u201cSuccess means having the power to do it yourself \u2013 the muscles scare the birds.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cYou got this!\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe ad ends with him training the skinny man he threw a drill to by spotting him on a weights bench, before he tells him: \u201cNow let\u2019s build another bench \u2013 come on!\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe Parkside collection being fronted by the Hollywood veteran has more than 100 products included tools, gardening equipment and accessories.<\/p>\n
\nLidl said: \u201cDIY is for everyone \u2013 that\u2019s what Parkside is all about. The brand is especially aimed at all those who like to repair, build and garden.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nArnold added in a statement: \u201c\u2018You got this\u2019 \u2013 that\u2019s exactly my attitude. You have to believe in yourself, that\u2019s why I\u2019m a Parksider.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nLidl has previously partnered with Paris Hilton, Christina Aguilera, Rita Ora and Heidi Klum, and it said it chose Arnold as its latest brand ambassador as he was a fit for the Parkside \u201c\u2018roll your sleeves up\u2019 mentality\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
