Gomez shut down any and all fan speculation that \u201cSingle Soon\u201d is about her ex-boyfriend.<\/p>\n

\u201cCouldn\u2019t be more false,\u201d she commented on HollywoodLife\u2019s Instagram post<\/a>, which speculated that the song lyrics might be alluding to her past romance with The Weeknd, on Sunday, August 27.<\/p>\n

Selena Gomez<\/strong><\/a> made her triumphant return to music with the song \u201cSingle Soon\u201d<\/a> on Friday, August 25 \u2014 but is she reliving a past relationship with the lyrics?<\/p>\n

Years after dropping her 2021 record, Revelaci\u00f3n<\/em>, Gomez, 31, kicked off her SG3<\/em> era with the perfect end-of-summer single \u2013 and upon hearing the track, some fans were convinced that Gomez, 31, was referring to her 2017 romance with The Weeknd<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cShould I do it on the phone? \/ Should I leave a little note \/ In the pocket of his coat?\u201d she sings in the song\u2019s first verse. \u201cMaybe I\u2019ll just disappear \/ I don\u2019t wanna see a tear \/ And the weekend\u2019s almost here.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Weeknd has a song titled \u201cSave Your Tears,\u201d which Gomez could be alluding to with her lyrics. The line raised eyebrows with listeners, especially since she mentioned \u201cthe weekend\u201d in the following breath.<\/p>\n

In the \u201cSingle Soon\u201d music video, Gomez can be seen writing a Post-It note that reads, \u201cI\u2019m sorry I can\u2019t don\u2019t hate me,\u201d seemingly breaking up with her lover.<\/p>\n

One TikTok user was quick to make a video<\/a> about the Post-It note, explaining how it\u2019s a Sex and the City<\/em> Easter egg<\/a>. However, several commenters took it to mean something else entirely, calling out Gomez\u2019s split from The Weeknd.<\/p>\n

\u201cSelena literally says the weekend is here as she puts the note down,\u201d one social media user wrote. Another added, \u201cAND THE WEEKEND IS HERE AS SHE PUTS THE NOTEEEEEE.\u201d<\/p>\n

A third speculated that Gomez \u201cjust brought out weekend song.\u201d<\/p>\n

TikTok wasn\u2019t the only social media platform abuzz with speculation. \u201cOmg is SINGLE SOON about when she broke up with The Weeknd to get with Justin Bieber?\u201d one Twitter user questioned.<\/p>\n

Gomez hasn\u2019t publicly addressed who or what \u201cSingle Soon\u201d is about, but she did tease that it\u2019s the start of her SG3<\/em> era.<\/p>\n
