The Summer I Turned Pretty<\/em><\/a> has inspired plenty of discourse about the main love triangle<\/a> from fans and celebrities alike.<\/p>\n

The show \u2014 based on a book series written by Jenny Han<\/strong><\/a> \u2014 debuted on Prime Video in June 2022. The Summer I Turned Pretty<\/em> focuses on Belly (Lola Tung<\/strong><\/a>) and her childhood friends Conrad (Christopher Briney<\/strong><\/a>) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno<\/strong><\/a>). After initially having a crush on Conrad<\/a>, Belly\u2019s life gets more complicated when she finds herself growing close to Jeremiah as well.<\/p>\n

Han has weighed in on the great ship debate<\/a> herself, telling CBS Mornings in July 2023, \u201cI don\u2019t pick favorites. [I want to viewers] be on the same ride as Belly and experience the ups and downs alongside her.\u201d<\/p>\n

The showrunner went on to question the criticism over Belly\u2019s decisions<\/a>. \u201cYes, Belly is messy but she\u2019s going through it \u2014 and I think you know I have a lot of empathy for young people and what they go through. \u2026 Just basically I think we\u2019re all coming of age, all the time,\u201d Han added. \u201cWhatever age you are I think that you can look back on decisions that you\u2019ve made and \u2026 mistakes.\u201d<\/p>\n
