Former child star Alyson Stoner<\/strong><\/a> opened up about being taken advantage of financially as a young actor, claiming they lost nearly $500,000 to questionable business managers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI haven\u2019t spoken about my financials much, but sadly being taken advantage [of] isn\u2019t a unique experience,\u201d the <\/span>Step Up <\/span><\/i>star, 30, captioned a TikTok<\/a> video on Friday, August 25.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Alyson described learning of their missing cash when they were \u201ctouring my original music.\u201d \u201cI learned that I had $0 left in one of my bank accounts, which made no sense because I was ultra frugal and I\u2019d been working since childhood. There should have been honestly, like close to half a million in there.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWhen I investigated everything I discovered my former business team and other adults in my life had organized a plan where they were paying themselves extra money from this one account since I was a kid.<\/span><\/p>\n And apparently as a kid I had agreed to that,\u201d they continued in the clip from episode 3<\/a> of their podcast, \u201cDear Hollywood.\u201d \u201cBut, you know, I didn\u2019t understand what was happening. And years later, even after they weren\u2019t involved in my business like before and even after my work slowed down and I wasn\u2019t making nearly as much money, they continued paying themselves the same amount from this account.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n According to the former <\/span>Suite Life of Zack & Cody <\/span><\/i>star, their experience of \u201cbeing taken advantage of\u201d is common to young stars in Hollywood. This was proven with stars like <\/span>High School Musical<\/span><\/i><\/a>\u2019s Olesya Rulin<\/strong>, <\/span>America\u2019s Got Talent <\/span><\/i><\/a>winner Bianca Ryan<\/strong> and <\/span>Chasing Life <\/span><\/i>actress Haley Ramm<\/strong> chimed in the comments section with similar stories<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI just appreciate all this so much. It\u2019s unfortunate how many of us can relate to this,\u201d Haley, 31, wrote, while Bianca, 28, added, \u201cYep.. this.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Fellow Disney<\/a> star, Olesya, 37, responded saying, \u201cSame !!! The only business manager I ever hired had \u2018paid\u2019 themselves extra $$$ that I will never see again because \u2018I approved it\u2019 as a teen star.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n For their part, Alyson believed they were being taken care of by their team and family but due to having \u201clittle to no grasp\u201d of business, they didn\u2019t \u201cfigure out this problem until it was too late,\u201d calling it a \u201creally low moment.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cTeams of people come in really early and they control all these things. So all we have to do is show up, hit our mark and perform. Many of us never learn the basics of business management,\u201d the Disney Channel<\/a> alum continued. \u201cThis can lead to very poor financial decisions and hardship later and it leaves room for people to mess with our money without us even realizing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
