One month after Lebron James<\/strong><\/a>\u2019 son Bronny James<\/a> was hospitalized for cardiac arrest, a likely cause has been revealed.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter a comprehensive initial evaluation at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center led by Dr. Merije<\/strong> Chukumerije<\/strong> and follow-up evaluations at the Mayo Clinic led by Dr. Michael J. Ackerman<\/strong> and Atlantic Health\/Morristown Medical Center led by Dr. Matthew W. Martinez<\/strong>, the probable cause of Mr. James\u2019 sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) has been identified,\u201d read a statement from the James family on Friday, August 25. \u201cIt is an anatomically and functionally significant Congenital Heart Defect which can and will be treated.\u201d<\/p>\n

Congenital heart defect consists of one or more problems with the heart\u2019s structure that typically develop before birth, per the Mayo Clinic<\/a>. It can also change the way blood flows through the heart.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are very confident in Bronny\u2019s full recovery and return to basketball in the very near future,\u201d the statement continued, noting that updates will continue to be shared and that the family values their privacy.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tLeBron James\u2018 eldest son, Bronny James, is following in his dad\u2019s basketball-playing footsteps \u2014 and he\u2019s already on his way to superstardom. Born in 2004, Bronny\u2019s athletic skills started attracting attention when he was just 10 years old. By the time he started high school at Sierra Canyon School in Los Angeles, national interest in [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Bronny, 18, was rushed to the hospital<\/a> last month after suffering cardiac arrest during a workout practice for the basketball team at the University of Southern California.<\/p>\n

\u201cMedical staff was able to treat Bronny and take him to the hospital,\u201d a spokesperson for the James family told Us Weekly<\/em> on July 25. \u201cHe is now in stable condition and no longer in ICU. We ask for respect and privacy for the James family and we will update [the] media when there is more information.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bronny committed to USC for basketball<\/a> in May ahead of his high school graduation that same month. He is the eldest child of LeBron, 38, and his wife, Savannah James<\/strong><\/a>. The couple, who tied the knot in 2013, also share son Bryce, 16, and daughter Zhuri, 8.<\/p>\n

Amid Bronny\u2019s hospitalization, LeBron gave an update on how the teen was doing while sharing his appreciation for the many well-wishes<\/a> the family received on Bronny\u2019s behalf.<\/p>\n
