Ben Glenroy\u2019s death \u2014 and the culprit behind his murder \u2014 has already introduced many theories about Only Murders in the Building<\/em><\/a> season 3.<\/p>\n The mystery was initially introduced in the season 2 finale<\/a> when viewers caught a glimpse at the opening night of Oliver\u2019s (Martin Short<\/strong><\/a>) play Death Rattle<\/em>. Ben (Paul Rudd<\/strong><\/a>) had a strange conversation with Charles (Steve Martin<\/strong><\/a>), which hinted at a feud. Moments later Ben collapsed on stage in what appeared to be a murder.<\/p>\n Season 3, however, offered a plot twist when the premiere showed Ben alive<\/a> and well. He made a surprise appearance at the Arconia where he discussed briefly dying before going to get some rest. Later that night, Mabel (Selena Gomez<\/strong><\/a>), Oliver and Charles watched Ben\u2019s dead body \u2014 for real this time<\/a> \u2014 fall through the ceiling in the elevator.<\/p>\n \u201cThe part I liked the most is this twist on the classic murder-mystery thing, where you have a room full of people \u2013 suspects, potentially \u2013 and here we have the victim himself going around the room and picking out potential suspects for our audience at home,\u201d showrunner John Hoffman<\/strong> told TVLine<\/em> about the August 2023 episode. \u201cAnd then it\u2019s a double twist [once Ben dies in the Arconia] that sets up our trio.\u201d<\/p>\n He added: \u201cPaul was delighted. We didn\u2019t have it when we first pitched him on his demise at the end of Season 2. I\u2019ll never forget Zooming with him, when I was telling what this season would entail for Ben Glenroy, and he was both shocked and delighted.\u201d<\/p>\n
