Bachelor Nation has already embraced Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner<\/strong><\/a>, but Bachelor<\/em> season 17 alum Sarah Herron<\/strong> <\/a>tells Us Weekly<\/em> that she tried to get her father the gig.<\/p>\n \u201cI nominated my dad. And he got through, like, the first round of casting or whatever,\u201d Herron revealed<\/a> on Us<\/em>\u2019 \u201cHere for the Right Reasons\u201d podcast,<\/a> adding that this was when the franchise first started advertising for the senior spinoff \u201cyears\u201d ago. \u201cAnd he never got the callback and now it\u2019s airing and I\u2019m a little bummed out \u2019cause I thought my dad was gonna be the Golden Bachelor!\u201d<\/p>\n When asked whether her father would\u2019ve been seriously down to hand out roses, Herron replied, \u201cOh yeah.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAs a matter of fact, this most recent April Fool\u2019s Day, he got me so good because he said something about like, \u2018I just got my last callback or something.\u2019 He was, like, too specific and I was like, \u2018Oh my God, are you kidding? You\u2019re gonna be the Bachelor?\u2019 And he was like, \u2018April Fools,\u2019\u201d Herron recalled. \u201cHe would\u2019ve done it, for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n ABC announced earlier this summer<\/a> that Turner secured the spot and production is currently underway<\/a> on season 1.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s gotta be lots of single parents amongst all of us,\u201d Herron told Us<\/em>. \u201cI thought it would be funny too \u2019cause then it could be, like, I come in and coach my dad. But I guess they weren\u2019t into it.\u201d<\/p>\n It\u2019s been rumored that season 25 Bachelor Matt James<\/strong><\/a>\u2019 mom, Patty James<\/strong>, is one of the contestants<\/a>. James and Rachael Kirkconnell<\/strong><\/a>, who have been dating for nearly three years after meeting on The Bachelor<\/em>, played coy about the speculation during an interview with Us<\/em> last month.<\/p>\n \u201cWe truly, truly, truly don\u2019t know. We don\u2019t know if she\u2019s on it or not,\u201d Kirkconnell told Us<\/em>. \u201cI\u2019m very excited to see whatever happens. I\u2019m really excited for Gerry. I think he\u2019s going to be a great Bachelor. I mean, he seems like the absolute perfect candidate, so I\u2019m really excited to watch. \u2026 I\u2019m rooting for love [for Patty] any day, whether it\u2019s on TV or off.\u201d<\/p>\n James\u2019 BFF Tyler Cameron<\/strong><\/a> had a similar response when asked by Us<\/em> this week.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve heard [the rumors], but I don\u2019t have any answers on my end. She\u2019d be great. I think she\u2019d be fun,\u201d Cameron said.<\/a> \u201cShe\u2019s got a lot of Matt in her, so it\u2019d be fun to see. She\u2019s the sweetest lady ever though [and] I don\u2019t know how that fares for people on the show \u2013 being really sweet and nice.\u201d<\/p>\n When asked whether he tried to get his dad on the show, Cameron said he\u2019s happily dating in Florida.<\/p>\n
