Oh, and if you haven\u2019t already, <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/newsletters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sign up here<\/a> to get WiR in your inbox every Saturday.<\/p>\n<p><h2>Most read<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/08\/16\/this-70-device-can-spoof-an-apple-device-and-trick-you-into-sharing-your-password\/?mrfhud=true\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>A cheap Apple spoofer:<\/strong><\/a> Attendees at Def Con, one of the world\u2019s largest hacking conferences, observed that their iPhones were showing pop-up messages <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/08\/14\/researcher-says-they-were-behind-iphone-popups-at-def-con\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prompting them to connect their Apple ID or share a password with a nearby Apple TV<\/a>. Turns out it was a part of a research project \u2014 a $70 device that can spoof an Apple device and trick unsuspecting users into sharing their password.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/08\/14\/millions-americans-health-data-moveit-hackers-clop-ibm\/?mrfhud=true\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Americans\u2019 health records stolen:<\/a> <\/strong>Millions of Americans had their sensitive medical and health information stolen after hackers exploited a zero-day vulnerability in the widely used MOVEit file transfer software raided systems operated by tech giant IBM. The Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing, which is responsible for administering Colorado\u2019s Medicaid program, confirmed\u00a0on Friday that it had fallen victim to the MOVEit mass hacks, exposing the data of more than 4 million patients.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/08\/11\/elon-musk-says-he-is-actually-going-to-fight-mark-zuckerberg-please-forgive-me\/?mrfhud=true\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Musk versus Zuckerberg: <\/strong><\/a>In June, X CEO Elon Musk challenged Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, a practitioner of Brazilian jiujitsu, to a cage fight \u2014 for charity. After repeated delays on Musk\u2019s end, last week, Musk promised that the fight was still happening. But shortly afterward, Zuckerberg said that he and Musk couldn\u2019t agree to terms, including a venue and date, and that it was time to \u201cmove on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/08\/15\/x-formerly-twitter-slows-down-access-to-threads-the-new-york-times-bluesky-and-more\/?mrfhud=true\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>X slows down access:<\/strong><\/a> X was found to have throttled traffic to websites that the social network\u2019s owner, Elon Musk, publicly dislikes. The platform slowed down the speed it takes when accessing links to a handful of websites, including The New York Times, Instagram, Facebook, Bluesky, Threads, Reuters and Substack.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/08\/11\/its-official-better-com-is-going-public\/?mrfhud=true\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Better.com goes public:<\/strong><\/a> Digital mortgage lender\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/tag\/better-com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Better.com<\/a>\u2019s proposal to combine with Aurora Acquisition Corp. via a SPAC (special purpose acquisition) has been approved by shareholders. The company had originally begun <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2021\/05\/11\/digging-into-digital-mortgage-lender-better-coms-huge-spac\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">making plans to go public<\/a> in May 2021 but was plagued with <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2022\/08\/25\/better-com-layoffs-digital-mortgage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">layoffs<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2022\/06\/21\/better-com-loses-three-more-senior-executives-including-svp-and-vp-of-sales\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">high-profile executive resignations<\/a>, a housing market slowdown and negative publicity that forced it to push back its IPO.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/08\/11\/baldurs-gate-3-early-review-modern-fantasy\/?mrfhud=true\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Baldur\u2019s Gate 3, reviewed:<\/strong><\/a> \u00a0Baldur\u2019s Gate 3\u00a0is a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/tag\/dungeons-and-dragons\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dungeons &amp; Dragons<\/a> game through and through, Taylor reports in her first impressions piece, but you needn\u2019t be familiar with that world or those systems to enjoy it. Natasha, who reviewed it for TC, found it to be an improvement upon the original in several ways, including (very importantly) in the form-factor department.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/08\/16\/tesla-supplier-catl-unveils-battery-that-can-add-up-to-400km-of-range-in-10-minutes\/?mrfhud=true\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>An EV battery with greater range:<\/strong><\/a> CATL, the Chinese battery giant and a major supplier to Tesla, has unveiled its latest product that aims to solve electric vehicles\u2019 charging and range limitations. Zappacosta talked about his unusual path to entrepreneurship, which included almost getting a degree in neuroscience before deciding to start a company without having an existing idea.<\/p>\n<p>And <a href=\"https:\/\/pod.link\/chainreaction\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chain Reaction<\/a> spoke with Eric Balchunas, senior ETF analyst at Bloomberg, alongside TechCrunch+ editor in chief Alex Wilhelm.
